Ansonia Police: Portion of Pershing Drive closed after fatal accident today


ANSONIA  - Ansonia Police are currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 7:44 a.m. on Pershing Drive between Clifton Avenue and Bridge Street. Pershing Drive is closed until further notice in that area, drivers and pedestrians should avoid the area. 
The accident is still an active scene, the Connecticut State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit and Derby Police Department are assisting with the investigation. 
More information will be released as it becomes available, at this time we are not releasing the name of the individual involved in the accident.

Community coming together to help Derby family bury 5 children

DERBY - A horrific car crash on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Scarsdale, N.Y. early Sunday took the lives of five children ages 8-17 who recently had moved here from New York.

The community has come together since news of the fatal accident was reported Sunday to help the family pay funeral costs.

Derby Police seek information about fatal motorcycle accident

DERBY - The victim of a fatal motorcycle accident Wednesday is identified as a 16 year-old Oxford resident, police said today on the department's Facebook page.
Witness accounts, video surveillance, and physical evidence revealed the juvenile was operating the motorcycle in a reckless manner and was ejected after losing control.
He sustained significant injuries and was transported to Griffin Hospital where he was immediately pronounced deceased.
The juvenile did not have a driver’s license and the motorcycle was determined to be stolen, police said.

Ansonia Police identify victim of fatal motorcycle accident


ANSONIA - The victim in the fatal motorcycle accident Sunday on East Main and Main Streets is Kevin Parham, 55, of Norwalk, formerly of Ansonia, police said today. 
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death to be blunt trauma and the manner to be accidental.
