Seymour Pumpkin Festival tradition to continue Sunday at French Memorial Park

SEYMOUR - The Seymour Pumpkin Festival will be held tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival that was started in 1965 is still running strong at French Memorial Park.

It features a large variety of homemade craft vendors, food vendors, live music, and kid-friendly activities!

Jack-o'-Lanterns bring Halloween spirit to Ansonia City Hall steps

Ansonia Cultural Commission members did a wonderful job Friday decorating the front of Ansonia City Hall. 

Concerns over a spike in COVID-19 cases cancelled the Ansonia Cultural Commission's 'Nightmare Alley' drive-through event that had been scheduled Friday evening.

Seymour's scarecrow tradition continues

This cute couple was spotted on a sunny autumn afternoon at Broad Street Park in Seymour. 

Kudos go to the town's Culture and Arts Commission for continuing a fun tradition of displaying scarecrows throughout downtown.

Angelic scarecrow spotted outside Seymour Pink Gift Shop

Once again this year there are many fun scarecrows scattered around Seymour. 
This pink 'angel' is located outside of Seymour Pink Gift Shop, 3 Franklin St.

These guys caught my eye Saturday morning as I was headed over to the Pounding the Pavement for Pink 5K event in Seymour.  

Kudos go to the commission members for their  decorating of the downtown for the season.

Second-place winner of the scarecrow contest was Seccombe's Men's Shop.

ANSONIA - The Cultural Commission's 11th annual Harvest Festival Saturday may have been held under cloudy skies, but gloomy weather didn't dampen scarecrow spirits.

Valley Arts Council President Rich DiCarlo judged the contest entries created by Main Street merchants. 

My Sister's Place thrift store won first place with the multi-scarecrow creation below:

Ansonia resident Christine Boulay, left, and her daughter, Elsa Boulay created 'The Village People.' 

River Valley Baptist Church gained third-place honors with its pajama-clad Teddy bear scarecrow. The entry was called "Bedtime is Bible time."

Kids of all ages enjoyed The Roaming Railroad rides up and down Main Street.

The Cultural Commission raffled off gift baskets donated by city departments.

'People' win first place in scarecrow contest at Ansonia Harvest Festival

My Sister's Place staff member Christine Boulay, left, and her daughter, Elsa Boulay, are all smiles because their scarecrow creations, 'The Village People,' won first place in Saturday's scarecrow contest judged by Valley Arts Council President Rich DiCarlo at the Ansonia Harvest Festival. 
All of the clothing they used for the costumes had been donated to My Sister's Place, a thrift shop on Main Street that benefits BHcare's The Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence Services.
