Seymour Public Library to give pumpkins, decorating kits to kids



SEYMOUR - Come to Seymour Public Library and get a free pumpkin and decorating kit between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Oct. 14 and 15. 
The Library is at 46 Church St.
This program is a take-home event. We supply the pumpkin and a decorating kit and you bring it home and let your imagination do the rest. 
One pumpkin and kit per child. Please call the library at 203-888-3903 to guarantee a pumpkin!
It is very possible that we will run out of pumpkins, so this is a first come, first served program.

Ansonia Nature Center to celebrate autumn with wagon rides, pumpkin painting, crafts

ANSONIA - Celebrate this wonderful season with staff and Friends of the Ansonia Nature Center from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 23 at the park, 10 Deerfield Road.

Take a ride through our park and fields in a horse-drawn story wagon and hear some spooky tales! 

Walk our haunted trail in the golden rod maze. Enjoy lunch from one of our food vendors. Learn about bats, spiders, and owls from one of our nature center naturalists! 

Visit the Nature Store for some nature-related items. Enjoy nature-related exhibitors and vendors. Try your hand at pumpkin painting, get your face painted, or make some crafts. 

All proceeds benefit the Nature Center. 

Rain or shine. No park admission fee.

Seymour Public Library to distribute pumpkin decorating kits

"We have a limited number of pumpkins, so please call the library at 203-888-3903 to guarantee your spot! If we run out of pumpkins, we will still have decorating kits available."

Oxford Parks and Rec to sponsor Trick or Trunk on Halloween


OXFORD - Bring your car and your kids to Oxford High School parking lot Oct. 31 (no walk-ins) for a Halloween event.
Park your car, open your decorated trunk, sit on your lawn chairs and watch your child trick or treat from car to car while you hand out candy to all of the trick or treaters.

Oxford residents only! The event is for trick or treaters ages Pre-K to Grade 5.
Cars may begin entering the parking lot at 5 p.m. for set-up.
In order to provide a safe event no cars will be permitted to enter or depart the parking lot between 6 and 7:30 p.m.
No fee, but we ask that each family bring one carved jack o' lantern. Please include a candle for us to light.

Ansonia Middle School to host Harvest Dance for students

"Since we had so much fun at the fall fest [Sunday], and didn't get a chance to break out the painting table, we decided to get out the paints and have fun with what's left. 
"Space is limited, so please RSVP with how many pumpkins will be needed. 

"Small pumpkins are $3, Medium pumpkins are $5, Large or fancy are $10. We will be setting up in the greenhouse to stay warm and dry!"

Derby Senior Center to hold annual fall fair

DERBY - Autumn fun is on tap Oct. 20 when the Derby Senior Center holds its annual Fall Fair. 
It will run from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. 

The fair will feature a tag sale, baked goods, crafts, a raffle, and more.

There will be free cider and doughnut holes available for the first 100 people. Use the Elizabeth Street entrance across from Archie Moore's Bar & Restaurant.

Halloween Hoopla in Ansonia to offer family fun, health and safety info



DERBY - The 17th Annual Children’s Health and Safety Fair will be a Halloween treat for families from 3-7 p.m. Oct. 26 at Warsaw Park, 119 Pulaski Highway, Ansonia.
Griffin Hospital Community Outreach and Valley Parish Nurse Program, Safe Kids Greater Naugatuck Valley, and Griffin Faculty Physicians encourage families to put on their Halloween costumes and come to a “Halloween Hoopla.” It features free healthy treats, games, and information on a variety of health, wellness, and safety programs. 
The event is rain or shine.
Interactive health, wellness, and safety displays at the event will include poison prevention, hand washing, pedestrian, pet, car seat, and Halloween safety, as well as how to call 9-1-1 and more. 
There will also be a bike helmet clinic and a safety house exhibit to teach about safety features in homes.
Free, fitted bike helmets will be available for the first 300 children.

Friends of the Beacon Falls Library to host pumpkin painting fun

Friends of the Beacon Falls Library
Annual Pumpkin Painting Event
Drop-in between 10 a.m. and noon Oct. 27
Children who have pre-registered and paid the $1 registration fee by Oct. 25 will have a reserved pumpkin. 
There may be a limited number of other pumpkins available, but that is not guaranteed.
All materials including pumpkins are provided.

NOTE: DUE TO THE $1 FEE, PARTICIPANTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REGISTER ONLINE - REGISTRATION MUST BE DONE AT THE LIBRARY. 
You can call the library and then drop off the $1 fee in an envelope in the drop box if you cannot come in during library hours.
