Masonicare at Wesley Heights in Shelton to host Senior Services Fair



SHELTON - Community members and local residents are invited to attend a Senior Services Fair April 17 at the Wesley Heights Activity Room, 580 Long Hill Ave. 

The event will feature a variety of vendors, raffles, and health screenings designed to connect seniors and their families with important services and resources.

The fair will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to the general public. 

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about services available through Masonicare, including residential living, home care, hospice and palliative care, and behavioral health programs that support older adults and their families.

Local organizations and community partners will also be on hand, including representatives from the Shelton Senior Center, Alzheimer’s Association, Parkinson’s Foundation, and local first responders such as police, fire, and emergency medical services.

In addition to Masonicare health care and senior living options, there will be vendors on hand, including: Griffin Hospital Health Services, Wheel-it-Forward DME Lending Library, Medicare insurance consultants, pet care services, as well as an eldercare attorney.

The event is free to attend and is designed to help seniors and caregivers discover valuable local resources in one convenient location.

Griffin Health in Derby to hold mental health awareness fair Monday


DERBY – In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Griffin Health Behavioral Health Services is hosting a free fair that aims to support and empower its community through open dialogue and access to mental health services.

The Griffin Mental Health Awareness Fair will be held May 19 from 5-7 p.m. at Griffin Health Outpatient Psychiatry, 250 Seymour Ave.

The fair will feature activities and conversations that promote understanding and compassion to help break the stigma of mental health and addiction care. 
On-site consultations with follow-up appointments will be available along with information about Griffin's Department of Psychiatry services, including talk therapy, group therapy, medication management, crisis support, and substance use treatment. 
Attendees can also learn about the prevalence of mental health conditions and the importance of early treatment, and experience guided mindfulness exercises, stress-reduction techniques, and other holistic approaches to mental well-being.

Refreshments will be served. Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for Griffin's food pantry.

Master's Table in Ansonia seeks vendors for Fall into the Holidays Fair


ANSONIA - Attention vendors: Master's Table Community Meals needs vendors for its Fall into the Holiday Fair Nov. 4.
The fair will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Assumption Church, 61 N. Cliff St.
Great gifts, crafts, baskets, and much more will be available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit Masters Table Community Meals.
The organization provides two free community dinners per month. It also sponsors 30 children at a school in Ansonia with weekend food during the school year.

Ansonia Library to host trash reduction pilot program kickoff fair


ANSONIA - Stop by the Ansonia Library this Saturday, Jan. 21 between 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for the Trash Reduction Pilot Program Kickoff Fair. 

The City is giving away free household compost bins (!!!), snacks, and tons of information about the program. All are welcome. Bring your questions and ideas.

Derby Senior Center to hold annual fall fair

DERBY - Autumn fun is on tap Oct. 20 when the Derby Senior Center holds its annual Fall Fair. 
It will run from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. 

The fair will feature a tag sale, baked goods, crafts, a raffle, and more.

There will be free cider and doughnut holes available for the first 100 people. Use the Elizabeth Street entrance across from Archie Moore's Bar & Restaurant.
