'Grandma' sure has a nice ring to it

I finally met my grandson two weeks ago. It was wonderful!

Aidan Ralph is real - not just an adorable photo on Facebook messenger. My daughter Allegra sends me photos every day so I can see his progress from afar.

Son Cameron took the week off from work so we took advantage of the time and visited. Unfortunately sickness and several snowstorms had delayed our trip to Massachusetts.

Aidan was due on Valentine's Day but he decided  to surprise us and make his debut on Christmas Eve.

I guess he couldn't wait to meet his family! I know we couldn't wait to meet him.

The best Christmas Eve I could ever imagine

How do I write this on Christmas Eve without it sounding trite? Here goes!

Our family was blessed this morning with a Christmas miracle and I couldn't be happier. God is good. Life is wonderful.

Aidan Ralph Nanna made his way into the world a bit early. He was due in early February and is only 3.5 pounds. He is in another state, but I hope to see my first grandchild soon.

Waiting for photos.

Recuperation journey: Saying goodbye for now, see you soon

Write what you know. That's the sage advice I was given many years ago. Sounds simplistic, but it works!

Today what I know is I keep thinking about a class I belong to, and a small farewell party we had for our instructor last evening. She is the kind of teacher who makes time to give everyone in the class individualized attention.

Now she is transitioning to another career, one that will last a lifetime!
You guessed it, motherhood.

Everyone in the class - most of us are mothers - is so happy for her and her husband.
We're ready to give her the wisdom of our experience, if she wants it!

I wanted to publicly wish her all the best as she embarks on a new journey.

Recuperation journey: Down memory lane

My daughter Allegra uses this photo of my mother holding her when she was a baby for her Facebook profile pic.

I recently found this photo amongst some old photos.
It's now my profile pic on FB.

Baby girl born in the arms of ARMS in Ansonia

I love this story! I meant to post it earlier today. Congratulations to the ambulance crew members.

Shared from the City of Ansonia Facebook page:

"This afternoon, [Sunday] ARMS was dispatched for the reported active childbirth. Crews responded to find the patient having contractions just minutes apart. Crews quickly and safely transferred Mom to the ambulance and as we were about to depart for the hospital, the little baby had other plans.
"A healthy baby girl was born in the back of Bravo 9 at 2:21pm. Truly outstanding job to the crews and VEMS medics involved. Amidst all of the heartbreak and sickness we see, today was a great one that will not soon be forgotten. We are so happy that Mom and baby are doing well."
