Recuperation journey: Sunday s'mores

It's getting to be late August already (!) and we haven't made s'mores yet.
We were going to use the grill Sunday but ended up cooking inside.

Since we had the ingredients for those tasty treats we decided to microwave the marshmallows - I soon found that eight seconds on high was plenty; six seconds would probably suffice!

They were delicious and hit the spot.

And "gourmand" that I am I got an idea: Next time we should spread some peanut butter on the graham cracker first before adding a piece of chocolate and a marshmallow.

How does that sound?

Recuperation journey: Making a pie

Believe it or not, yours truly made a chocolate pie.
Those who know about my minimal skills in the kitchen are no doubt surprised.

But the recipe I happened upon looked so easy I had to give it a whirl.
It only has three ingredients: chocolate, whipped topping, and chocolate cookie-flavored crust.

Step 1 ^ Open packages.  :)

Step 2 ^ Mix.

... and finished product.

Looks good to me, but I never said it was good for you!

Happy Fourth of July!

This was taken Saturday in Manchester, as were the photos below.

Although I didn't attend the Derby-Shelton festivities this year, I did hear them. The finale sounded amazing.

On Saturday we enjoyed the fireworks in Manchester in what has become a 20-year tradition celebrated with extended family.

Mmm ... daughter Allegra made a patriotic pie for us. Looks good.

Happy Independence Day to all

Have a safe holiday!
