Seymour Public Library to host Food Explorers cooking program


SEYMOUR - Join Food Explorers at noon June 26 at Seymour Public Library for a hands-on cooking program!
You’ll be making your own dough to make tortillas from scratch! You’ll learn how to mix, knead, and roll your dough to make your own tortillas, and create a delicious filling for quick and easy tacos.
Best for children ages 5 and up. Registration is required for this program.
The Library is at 41 Church St.

Food Explorers to make tortellini skewers at Seymour Public Library


SEYMOUR - Join Food Explorers at 2 p.m. Aug. 1 at Seymour Public Library for a delicious summer cooking program!
You’ll be making Tortellini Skewers: delicious cheese tortellini made fun and creative by skewering with veggies, basil and balsamic vinegar.
Recipe is nut free but will contain dairy and eggs. Ages 5 and up.

Kids can learn to make pasta at Seymour Public Library program

 


SEYMOUR- Young adults 12 and up are invited to join Food Explorers for a colorful pasta class at 11 a.m. July 25! 
You’ll learn how to make homemade pasta dough and make it bright and colorful using natural food colorings. 
The end result will be beautiful rainbow noodles! Recipe is nut free but will contain eggs.

Food Explorers to make peach dessert at Seymour Public Library program


SEYMOUR - Join Food Explorers at 3:30 p.m. July 12 at Seymour Public Library for a delicious summer cooking program! 

You’ll be making Peach Cobbler Cups: a layer of graham cracker crust, topped with brown sugar and cinnamon peaches with homemade whipped cream to top it all off.

SEYMOUR - Join Food Explorers at 5:30 p.m. April 20 hosted by Seymour Public Library via Zoom to make Chocolate Fudge Pop-Tarts! 
Learn how to make your own pastry, chocolate fudge filling, and chocolate glaze.
You’ll need the following ingredients: flour, butter sugar, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, heavy cream OR milk and chocolate chips. You will need a rolling pin.

Learn to make fried rice in Seymour Public Library's Food Explorers program


SEYMOUR - Join Food Explorers at 4:30 p.m. March 9 on Zoom to make fried rice! The online class is hosted by Seymour Public Library.
Recreate your favorite takeout food at home with the following ingredients:
Eggs, carrots, green onions, soy sauce, rice (to be cooked during class) and optional ingredients such as sesame oil, ginger, garlic, frozen peas, frozen corn and other veggies.
If you would like to include chicken or meat in this dish, please pre-cook before class.

SEYMOUR - Seymour Public Library invites the community to join Food Explorers at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 23 to make Whoopie Pies.
Registration is required for this program. Space is limited to 12 families
These delicious, thick chocolate cakey cookies are filled with a creamy marshmallow filling.
You’ll need flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, light brown sugar, buttermilk, vegetable oil, 1 egg, butter, powdered sugar and marshmallow fluff.

Seymour Public Library to host Food Explorers fun via Zoom

Join Food Explorers to make a warm and cozy dinner: 
Veggie Lasagna Soup!
Registration is required for this program scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Jan. 21. Space is limited to 12 families.

You’ll need the following ingredients: onion, carrots, garlic, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, vegetable broth, lasagna noodles, parmesan and optional ingredients such as spinach, ricotta cheese, and dried oregano.

Seymour Public Library's Food Explorers program for kids to teach ice-cream making

SEYMOUR - Seymour Public Library invites children to join Food Explorers at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 18 to make No Churn Ice-Cream and Hot Fudge Sauce! You don’t need an ice-cream maker for this recipe, which comes together in a flash.

2 cans sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream (2 cups), chocolate chips, butter and optional vanilla.
