Winter band, chorus concert slated tonight at Derby High School

We hope you can join us for a festive evening of music at the DHS Winter Band and Chorus Concert tonight Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m.!
Mr. Ruel is excited to showcase the hard work, creativity, and holiday spirit our students have put into preparing for this event!

Ansonia High School marks National Marching Arts Day today

"In honor of Music in our Schools Month, AHS is celebrating March Fourth (National Marching Arts Day)! 

"March 4th is a day to build awareness around the marching arts: marching band, drum and bugle corps, indoor color guard, military parade bands, and drum line. 

"Marching Arts Day is all about those upbeat, often cheerful bands which also happen to be moving around while playing. AHS is grateful for our student band members!"

'We Are One' is theme of spring concert at Ansonia High School

"For now, the spring concert has been rescheduled for Thursday April 23rd. We will keep you posted of any changes. Thanks for your support!"

ANSONIA - The Ansonia High School music department will present its annual spring concert, 'We Are One,' from 6-7:30 p.m. March 26.
It will feature music from Charlie Puth to John Williams and everything in between.
Admission is $2 for students up to grade 12; $5 for all others.

The school is at 20 Pulaski Highway.

The Name Droppers to perform at Regal Beagle in New Haven



NEW HAVEN - The Elm City will be alive with music from 8-11 p.m. Friday when “The Name Droppers” roll into the Regal Beagle, 17 Whitney Ave., New Haven. 
The band consists of: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Drummer Bobby T. Torello, Grammy Award Winning Bassist Scott Spray (Johnny Winter Band), Charlie Karp’s protégée Rafe Klein on Guitar, and Keyboard Powerhouse Ron Rifkin. 
They will be playing some of their originals and standards for this great evening of Rock and Roll with a little bit of blue eyed soul. 
The Name Droppers have been recording at Horizon Music Studio with 2016 New England Music Awards Producer of the Year, Vic Steffens, and their record will be released early 2020.

Winter Concert slated Thursday at Ansonia High School



ANSONIA - The Ansonia High School annual Winter Concert will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the school, 20 Pulaski Highway.

Tickets are $5 for adults/$2 students or free with a donation of one new winter item for the warming tree (per person!).

The theme is "A Not-So-Silent Night."

Seymour Public Library slates concert of early rock 'n roll music


SEYMOUR - Rave On! will perform in a free concert at Seymour Public Library at 2 p.m. Oct. 22.
The band specializes in the early hits of rock 'n roll, such as the timeless music of Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly, and others that influenced artists that came afterward.

Musicians such as The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen all owe their inspiration to this era.


Rave On!'s high energy performance and timeless music will get young and old rocking.

Ansonia to host Southern Voice Thursday at Veterans Park


ANSONIA - The Cultural Commission will present Southern Voice, a modern country band rained out earlier this summer, this Thursday.

The band will perform at 7 p.m. at Veteran's Park next to City Hall.

Griffin Hospital to host free Army Band concert at Shelton High School

SHELTON - Griffin Hospital invites the community to a free holiday concert Dec. 6 at Shelton High School, 120 Meadow St.

The Griffin Hospital Annual Holiday Concert will feature the 102nd Army Band. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the auditorium will open at 7 p.m.

The 102nd Army Band is the official musical emissary for the Connecticut Army National Guard. Beginning in 1863 as the First Regiment, Connecticut National Guard Band, its musical tradition has continued through many designations and locations.
The 102nd Band served in World Wars I and II, and the Korean Conflict. 

'Goodwill Ambassadors'
As “Goodwill Ambassadors,” the 102nd performs in a variety of concerts, ceremonies, and parades around the world. The band has had the honor of playing for U.S. troops returning home from Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Noble Eagle and a NATO Change of Command ceremony in Heidelberg, Germany.

The band plays a variety of music such as classical, jazz, show tunes, rock and pop.

This event is sponsored by the President’s Fund at Griffin Hospital as a thank you to Griffin’s sponsors and the community, and as a celebration of the hospital’s family of employees, medical staff, volunteers, corporators, and trustees for their dedication, compassion, and expertise.

Tickets are free. Seating is general admission and given on a first come, first served basis.
