SHELTON - The Kathy Thompson Band will play rock music from 7-9 p.m. today on the Huntington Green. 

The performance is the final Music Under the Stars summer concert presented by the Shelton Parks and Recreation Department.

Annual tree lighting slated Dec. 3 on Huntington Green

SHELTON - RJS Designs (holiday decorators) is hosting the annual tree lighting at 5 p.m. Dec.3 on the Huntington Green. 

There will be Christmas caroling with Music Teachers Network, LLC, hot cocoa from David Grant Catering, and cookies from Munch Eatery. 

Mayor Mark Lauretti will be on hand, and Santa will stop by on the Huntington Fire Company No. 3 firetruck.

The rain or shine event is free.

Shelton Parks & Rec announces summer concert lineup on Huntington Green

 

'Turnback Tuesday' features St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Huntington Green

Turnback Tuesday looks at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church located by the Huntington Green in Shelton.

This building was completed in 1818 after an 1811 fire destroyed the original church, which was built in 1740.

The first rector was Rev. Christopher Newton who is buried in the cemetery on the right side of the church when facing the building. The blue image is created with a process called cyanotype. It is a process that uses a mix of iron compounds that when exposed to UV lights and washed in water oxidizes, creating a Prussian blue image. The technique was invented in 1841 by Sir John Frederick Herschel (1792-1871).
