Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton to hold fun cake decorating contest


OCEAN: This Takes the Cake
Participants: Families with children in Grades 4-6
Day/Date: Thursday, June 12
Time: 1-2 p.m.
Location: Plumb Memorial Library, 65 Wooster St. Shelton

Families are welcome to try Plumb's newest culinary competition (it's friendly)!
Each team will be provided with:
-A Team Number
-1 Store baked, frosted cake
-1 Can of white frosting
-Food coloring
-Kitchen utensils
-Sweet ingredients
Each family team must include at least ONE child in Grades 4-6 and ONE adult. Family teams CANNOT be more that 5 People. Both child and adult will be expected to participate.
Teams will then have 1 hour to creatively transform their sweet treats into a sugary masterpiece. Library staff will then vote on the most creative cake metamorphosis!
This is a hands-on food program.

Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton to host LEGO competition


LEGO Contest Kids vs. Parents
Location: Plumb Memorial Library, 65 Wooster St., Shelton
Day/Time: Tuesday, April 9, 3:30-4:10 p.m.
LEGO fans of both Kids & their Parents are welcome to join Miss Maura for the ultimate LEGO showdown competition! Each Kid & Parent pair will be given:
The same challenge to build
A container of LEGO bricks
40 minutes to build it too!
PLUS for some added fun, the Parent will also be given a few extra special roadblocks… just to keep things interesting!
Once the pair has separately completed their challenge, they will place them side-by-side and let the public decide whose creation is the best!

Voting will take place the entire month of April!

Ansonia church to host Pre-Super Bowl Appetizer Kickoff Competition

UPDATE: Event has been canceled.


ANSONIA - FUMC Social at First United Methodist Church will host an appetizer contest at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 4 at the church, 47 Franklin St.

Does your game day appetizer have what it takes to go all the way?
Also, you'll have an opportunity to paint your favorite team's logo to cheer them on (doesn't have to be the teams in the Super Bowl).

First United Methodist Church in Ansonia to host singing, musician competition


ANSONIA - First United Methodist Church will host a Soul Spectacular Singing and Musician Competition at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The church is at 47 Franklin St.

Winners will get choice of performance dates and times. Prizes to be awarded based on performance.

Congrats to Derby Police K-9 officer, partner Axel on win in narcotics competition

"Derby PD K-9 Officer John O'Donoghue and his partner Axel participated in the 2021 Dream Ride K-9 Challenge, which is an event hosted to benefit and raise funds for Special Olympics. This year's event was held at the Farmington Country Club in Farmington, CT.
"With over 32 K-9 teams from across the country competing, CONGRATULATIONS to Officer O'Donoghue and Axel who took 1ST PLACE in the narcotics competition!"
