'Turnback Tuesday' highlights Derby High School cheerleaders


Turnback Tuesday steps back in time with the Class of 1946,
or more specifically these lovely ladies of Derby High School cheerleaders: (l. to r.) Ellen Regan ‘47, Joan Kirby ’48 (later became captain), Lorraine Gaudio ’47, Catherine Cable ’46 (captain), Marion Kelly ’47, Mary Kenney ’46, and Anne Hollingsworth ’47.

DPL is in search of Derby High School sweaters to borrow for our display for the months of January and February 2025 in celebration of Derby’s 350th. 
With that, please remember to join us on Jan. 10 for our Sweater Weather Book Sale and Swap.

'Turnback Tuesday' features Derby High School cheerleaders in 1975


Turnback Tuesday has a great image of the Derby High School cheerleaders getting ready for the parade at the Derby 300th celebration in 1975.

Congrats to Ansonia High School cheerleaders on Class S state championship


 

Congratulations to the AHS Cheerleaders who won the Class S state championship Saturday for the second consecutive year. This is the sixth state title in school history and the first back to back title. (1999, 2002, 2007, 2017, 2023, 2024)

Seymour High School cheerleaders holding poinsettia fundraiser



We are having a poinsettia fundraiser just in time for the holidays🎄
All proceeds from the sale of these beautiful plants goes to the Seymour High School Varsity Cheer.
Available in Red, White or Pink.
6.5" plant for $10 or 7.5" plant for $15.
Orders and PAYMENTS are due by Dec. 7, 2022. Please make checks payable to Wildcats Spirit Club.
Or you may send payment through Venmo directly to the Treasurer, Kristal Szymanski. Please indicate the payment is for the Poinsettia Fundraiser.

Ansonia High School selling lawn signs to support athletes, pep band members

One week left to order your lawn sign!

AHS is selling Lawn Signs to show support for fall student athletes and pep-band members.

Community members can also purchase signs (without jersey numbers) to show their support of AHS fall athletic teams and band.

Seymour cheerleaders take 1st place at competition in Fairfield

The Seymour High School varsity cheerleaders competed last weekend at the Ludlowe Open hosted by Fairfield Ludlowe High School. 
The Lady Wildcats brought home the first place trophy in the All-Girl Varsity Advanced Division along with receiving the Grand Champion Award for receiving the highest score of the day. 
The Wildcats were up against 17 other Varsity teams for the Grand Champion Award.

Derby to honor 3 championship cheerleading squads Saturday

Sharing from the City of Derby:

DERBY - The City, the Derby school system, and Derby Pop Warner have combined to organize a firetruck-led convoy for 10 a.m. Saturday in honor of the city's three Pop Warner National Championship Cheerleading squads. 

The procession will start at Bradley School and end at Derby Middle School. 
Coffee, cocoa, and cookies will be served in the cafeteria. 
Mayor Richard Dziekan and the rest of the city are looking forward to celebrating this momentous achievement.

Parade of Champions celebrates Ansonia Chargers, Coppers cheerleaders

Cassetti congratulates Coppers, Chargers in ceremony at Ansonia High School

Ansonia Mayor David S. Cassetti poses with Aliah DePina, 9, one of the 39 Copper cheerleaders who are national champions in their age divisions. They were celebrated Monday along with the 2015 NVL champion football Chargers during a ceremony at Ansonia High School.
