Derby Public Library to host Teen Advisory Board meeting

 

DERBY - Derby Public Library invites all young adults ages 12-17 to a Teen Advisory Board meeting at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 30.

Attendees are encouraged to voice their ideas for improving an expanding young adult library services and teen programming. 

Focus will include participant input that contributes to the library fulfilling its mission of quality-of-life enhancements in: knowledge; entertainment; and citizenship.

DERBY - Follow our Twitch channel Monday to watch the Derby Neck Library’s Youth Twitch Club play a variety of games like Pokémon, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Overcooked, Astro Bears, and even older games like The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. 

No Twitch account is necessary If you just want to watch, but you will need one if you’d like to chat with us.

Beacon Falls Public Library to launch graphic novel book club

BEACON FALLS - A new Graphic Novel Book Club is starting this fall at Beacon Falls Public Library.
Our first book, 'Witches of Brooklyn', is now available at the circulation desk.

Every month Miss Kerri will select one of her favorite Graphic Novels to discuss, and will share an activity inspired by the book. September's book, "Witches of Brooklyn", by Sophie Escabasse is available at the circulation desk.

Registration is required. After school pickup is available (email Miss Kerri at KVardon@biblio.org for more information).

Derby Neck Library hosts Video Game Club on Tuesdays

DERBY - Youth can join us Tuesdays from 3-6 p.m. for the Derby Neck Library’s Video Game Club! 

Playing a host of multiplayer games on the library’s game systems (Xbox Series S, Playstation 4, Switch, Dreamcast, etc.), players will be able to experience fun yet competitive play.

Graphic Novel Book Club: "Be Prepared"

Day/Time: Tuesday, 7/18; 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Location: Plumb Memorial Library, 65 Wooster St., Shelton

Pick up the monthly graphic novel once your middle schooler has registered at Plumb and read it at home.

The book club night, bring your copy of the pre-read book, your own bagged dinner for a book discussion, book activities, and snacks provided by the library.

Caregivers must remain at Plumb Memorial Library while their child attends the book club.

Beacon Falls Public Library to host study break program with reptiles

BEACON FALLS - Beacon Falls Public Library will host a low-key, low-stress program from 2-3 p.m. Saturday that allows for hands-on time with some very chill lizards.

Due to the nature of this program, it is limited to current Grades 6-12. There can be no exceptions. Space is very limited; registration is required. 

This program is in person (to be held outdoors), and will require masks, and social distancing when possible. 

Participants must be able to be responsible about following safety guidelines and follow instructions about the handling of the reptiles.
