Seymour Public Library to present family movie April 14

This family friendly movie is 90 minutes long and is rated PG.

Derby Historical Society to hold Historic Elm Street Lantern Tour
Join the Derby Historical Society for a lantern lit walking tour of the Ansonia Historic District.
But stay alert! You never know who you will meet along the way. Before or after your tour, join our storytellers out back for a hot drink and more spooky tales by the fire.
All tickets include a voucher for a free drink at the Quail & Ale in Derby.
This event is family friendly.
Times
Tours depart at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and are about one hour in length. Please choose a tour time when purchasing your tickets. Our storytellers will be performing from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. and you may join them at any time before or after your tour.
Location
Tours depart from the David Humphreys House at 37 Elm Street, Ansonia. There is limited parking in the lot behind our House as well as along Thomas Street. Please check in at the Gift Shop in the back of the House when you arrive.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear walking shoes. It will be dark but lanterns will be provided to light your way.

Learn about fireflies Friday at Kellogg Environmental Center in Derby
DERBY - Kellogg Environmental Center will present a family-friendly program at 8 p.m. Friday to learn the life cycle and challenges of fireflies.

Ansonia Nature Center to hold annual Earth Day celebration
ANSONIA - The Ansonia Nature Center invites everyone to join us this Earth Day. This year’s theme is Our Power, Our Planet, and will feature hikes, live animal shows, nature exhibitors, and unique items are available for purchase from local vendors. We will have several food trucks onsite as well.
All ages are welcome to this family-friendly event. No park admission fee. No registration required.

Help needed in habitat restoration efforts at Ansonia Nature Center
ANSONIA - Join the Ansonia Nature Center’s “Land Stewards Team” at 9 a.m. Saturday and help us in our efforts in habitat restoration.
Japanese Knotweed is invasive vegetation that poses a threat to our Nature Center habitats and waterways. We will gather as a team to do a second carbohydrate starvation cut in sensitive Knotweed infested areas.

Learn the terminology, how to log caches, and a brief history of this interactive “game.”
The Nature Center has several located on its property. Be prepared to go on a hike to find some of the hidden surprises. Once you learn how easy this is, you can go outside and explore the many places in nature where these have been placed for your enjoyment. Wear appropriate foot gear and bug spray.
The class is limited to 30 participants. The Nature Center is located at 10 Deerfield Lane.

Celebrate Chocolate Milkshake Day at Kellogg Environmental Center in Derby

DERBY - Celebrate National Chocolate Milkshake Day at 1 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Kellogg Environmental Center, 500 Hawthorne Ave.
This free, family-friendly, outdoor program will take participants on a unique journey of discovery into dairy history from the cacao trees of Mesoamerica to the dairy farms of Derby.
Participants will have the opportunity to make their own whipped cream to put on a tasty chocolate treat.
Space is limited. Please register through the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Calendar of Events webpage at DEEP Calendar - Event Details (ct.gov) or contact the Kellogg Environmental Center at 203-734-2513.
The center is open 9 a.m-4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
