In this hands-on workshop, you'll bedazzle your book cover using rhinestones to add a little sparkle! 

Whether you’re going for bold, whimsical, or full-on glam, you’ll leave with an eye-catching cover that adds personality and shine to your bookshelf. No crafting experience needed, just bring your creativity!

Bedazzling takes time so you can expect to complete the title and possibly add embellishments to a few details or illustrations, and results will vary by each participant.
Don't forget to bring your own book with you.

DERBY - Join Derby Neck Library's biweekly Sunday Crafternoon at 3 p.m. this Sunday for a lesson in custom stamp making!

Derby Public Library to mark 'Won't You Be My Neighbor Day' Saturday

"Won't You Be My Neighbor Day" (All Ages)

In recognition of the late Fred Rogers’ birthday on March 20, a nationwide initiative celebrates his legacy of kindness and bringing neighborhoods together.

All ages are invited to stop by [Derby Public Library, 313 Elizabeth St.] between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on this neighborly day to enhance the Library’s sidewalks with some artistic sidewalk chalk drawing (weather permitting, chalk provided).

At 10:30, join crafting fun with Lisa Lupa of Quirky Bird Crafting. Create a unique ping-pong ball project during this drop-in program.

Design a bookmark or another project at the DIY Station to share with a friend or neighbor on this day of kindness and caring.

Also, check out book displays, featuring several written by Fred Rogers, along with other theme-related titles. Spend some quality time reading or just hanging out with a friend, neighbor or family member.

A special thanks to the Friends of Derby Public Library for their generosity in donating a portion of the craft supplies for this event.

Makerspace at Derby Neck Library offers craft fun for children

DERBY - Look what we make during Makerspace at Derby Neck Library! Come check out our brand new Makerspace in the Children’s Room! 

Every Wednesday between 3 and 6 p.m., Miss Sarah will be on hand to assist you with any project you’d like to complete. 

We have a LEGO wall, a programmable robot, snap circuits, origami, pixel art, ingredients for slime–you name it, we can make it happen!

Please note that the Makerspace is flooded with small parts, so we do not recommend it for very young children.

Create art out of recycled books at Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton

SHELTON - Plumb Memorial Library will host a  crafting class with Vanessa Fasanella at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

We'll be recycling discarded books and turning them into a scrapbook, travel memento, or photo album. 

When we cut, paint, and decorate, and add photo corners and headings, we will transform a book into a personal work of art. 

Join us to repurpose library discards and hardcovers.
