DERBY - The Derby Cultural Commission will host a tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Nov. 25 on the Green.

The event will feature caroling, hot cocoa, candy canes and a visit from Santa Claus.

A rain/snow date to be determined.

SHELTON - Celebrate Shelton will host its 6th Annual Community Tree Lighting downtown at 6 p.m. Dec. 6.

Community members are invited to join Celebrate Shelton creators Nicole Mikula, Michael Skrtic, and Jimmy Tickey at the Rotary Pavilion at Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Shelton. 

There will be performances by the Shelton Intermediate Choir and the Yuletide Carolers. There will also be hot cocoa and cookies provided by the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley's Keystone Club. 

After the tree lighting, Santa will arrive at 7 p.m., and children are encouraged to meet Santa and take a photo. 

Guests are reminded there is usually a line to meet Santa so please bundle up in case its a chilly night! 

The Community Tree Lighting is sponsored by Celebrate Shelton, City of Shelton, Center Stage Theatre, Apple Rehab, Jones Family Farm, and the Valley Community Foundation.

Tree lighting slated Sunday on Huntington Green in Shelton

SHELTON - The annual tree lighting on the Huntington Green will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday.
RJS Designs, LLC (Holiday Decorators) is hosting the event. 
Christmas music entertainment will be provided by Music Teachers Network, LLC, caroling, cocoa, and cookies. 
Mayor Mark Lauretti will visit. Santa will stop by on a firetruck from Huntington Fire Company No.3, and TD Bank Shelton branch will be handing out goodies.

Celebrate Shelton to host tree lighting Friday

Santa to arrive by train in Seymour Dec. 2, help light tree

SEYMOUR - The Seymour Culture and Arts Commission is ready to host another holiday tradition on Dec. 2.
Santa will come in on the train to help residents light the tree and bring in the Christmas season. 


The Seymour High School Chorale will lead sing-a-long carols starting at 5:45 p.m. and Santa will arrive at approximately 6:10 p.m.
He will travel down Bank Street on his motorized sleigh, light the tree, and pose for pictures.

There will be face painting, strolling carolers, letters to Santa at the Post Office, hot dogs, and all the glamour and glitz of First Saturday at the fabulous Shops at Seymour. 
The downtown shops will all stay open late for holiday shopping.

'Twelfth Night' celebrated at David Humphreys House in Ansonia

The Derby Historical Society held its annual Twelfth Night celebration for the public Sunday afternoon at the David Humphreys House, 37 Elm St., Ansonia. The event featured a buffet with ham, roasted vegetables, soups, cake, cookies, hot cider, and more. For the first time a reading of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol was presented by docents and members. As you can see by the scaffolding in the photo the house is undergoing a major renovation project.
