Annual Toy drive and Sleigh Ride with Santa event slated in Derby


DERBY - Valley Angels for Families will host its annual Toy Drive and Sleigh Ride with Santa at 6:30 p.m. Friday at La Sala Banquet Hall at Sons of Italy, 73 High St.

Admission is $20 for adults; children 11 and under admitted free with donation of an unwrapped toy.

The event will include dinner, hot chocolate, horse-drawn sleigh rides, bonfire, caroling, cash bar, a raffle, and a visit from Santa and other special guests.🎅🤶

In honor of DJ DiVincenzo, a past recipient, please bring a new, unwrapped toy!

All toys will be distributed to children in local families in need, Ansonia and Derby City Hall toy drives, St. Vincent De Paul in Derby, Adams house in Shelton, Homes of the Brave, The Marc Organization, and more.🎁🎄

Logan to address BHcare's annual Employment Salute at La Sala in Derby


DERBY - State Sen. George Logan, R-Ansonia, will be keynote speaker June 12 at the 25th Annual Employment Salute sponsored by BHcare’s Business Advisory Council and the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce. 
The luncheon is free to area businesses and will be held from noon -1:30 p.m. at La Sala Banquet Hall, 73 High St.
Logan will address the importance of hiring a diversified workforce.

Actress/storyteller to perform at Derby Historical Society's annual Silver Tea

DERBY - The Derby Historical Society will host actress Tammy Denease performing "Joan Jackson - An Unchained Love Story" at its annual Silver Tea July 9. 
The fundraiser will run from 2-4:30 p.m. at LaSala Banquet Hall, 73 High St.

Recuperation journey: Night out with friends

... for a good cause!



Daughter Allegra and I had a great time with friends at Bras for The Valley Thursday night at Il Palio Ristorante in Shelton.

The fashion show featuring men (and one lovely woman) modeling "creatively decorated" bras was a benefit for The Valley Goes Pink, an initiative each October that benefits The Hewitt Center for Breast Wellness at Griffin Hospital.

As a six-year breast cancer survivor I was happy  to see so many people turn out for the fun and support this important cause. 
The place was packed!

Derby Historical Society slates annual appeal, talk on witch hunting in CT

DERBY - The Ansonia-based Derby Historical Society will hold its 27th Annual Appeal at 5 p.m. Nov. 20 at La Sala Banquet Hall, 73 High St. 
Tickets are $45. 
Dinner will include stations of appetizers, chicken marsala, potatoes, salad, and pasta. 

Guest speaker will be Dr. Richard Ross, professor emeritus and former college Librarian at Trinity College. He will discuss his book, "Before Salem: Witch Hunting in the CT River Valley 1647-1663."

Ansonia resident Diane Stroman, executive vice president of TEAM, Inc. will receive the prestigious John I. Howe Award.
