Recuperation journey: Baby goats

SEYMOUR - I met Bonnie and Clyde Sunday afternoon.
The baby goats - sister and brother - visited Lizzie's Corner Consignment and Gifts, 36 Bank St. just in case anyone wanted to give them a hug!
They live at DeMartino Farm, 66 Old Ansonia Road.
The goats are almost two months old, they're starting to eat solid food, and as you can see they're quite cute!

Bonnie likes to pose. Her brother was too busy eating to notice the camera.

Recuperation journey: Needle felted pumpkins!

Class photo
My daughter Allegra and I attended another needle felting party Friday evening at Lizzie's Corner Consignment and Gifts, 36 Bank St.
Our teacher, Kayleigh Mihalko, showed us how to make needle felted pumpkins just in time for fall decorating.

Allegra and I each created two of them, since they were slightly easier to make than some of our previous endeavors: cacti, sheep, bees, and snowmen. There was a bit less detail involved.
Some of the participants were brave enough to attach vines to the stems. I left well enough alone!

One of my creations.

I layered two shades of orange fiber for this one.
It's definitely fun to make recognizable items out of strands of wool fiber. We're looking forward to the next class.

Recuperation journey: Friday felting party #4

Christmas in July

My daughter Allegra and I enjoyed our fourth needle-felting class Friday at Lizzie's Corner Consignment and Gifts in Seymour.
It was another fun "Ladies Night" led by needle felter extraordinaire Kayleigh Mihalko.

We made snowmen. While we were needle felting some of us thought our snowmen more closely resembled penguins, or ducks. But whatever they look like they're cute.

They all got a scarf, some got buttons, and a few even have ear muffs.

Looking forward to more felting fun!

Cactus anyone? Learning to make a felt one was fun at Lizzie's in Seymour

Shelton resident Kayleigh Mihalko, needle felter extraordinaire, describes the first step in creating a cactus out of wool fiber during a class Friday at Lizzie's Corner in Seymour.

The brown wool she is holding served as the "dirt" in a tiny terra cotta pot.

My daughter Allegra created this cactus.

Stay tuned for more photos in an upcoming edition of The Valley Voice newsletter.

A year later, and Seymour business has outgrown its corner of the world

Business owner Elizabeth Anderson photographed in her shop in December, 2015.

SEYMOUR - I published a post on Dec. 29, 2015 about the grand opening of Lizzie's Corner Consignment and Gifts, 19 Bank St., which was held Jan. 2, 2016.

Now owner Elizabeth Anderson is planning to move her shop to a larger space across the street at 32 Bank St.
And she is hosting a moving party from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday.

As she posted on Facebook:

"We're having a party! Please celebrate our First Anniversary with us!
"We would like to thank the friends who have made Lizzie's Corner a success this past year and share in our excitement for the New Year. Thanks to the support from the community, we have outgrown our little corner!
"Lizzie's Corner will be moving on January 8th to 32 Bank Street. Stop in on Saturday night to see us on our way. P.S. please bring empty boxes."
