Derby Public Library collecting donations for Ansonia Animal Shelter
DERBY - DPL is partnering with the Ansonia Animal Shelter to collect pet-friendly donations.
- Food and toys can be dropped off in the designated bin next to our circulation desk.
- For monetary donations, please see one of our our helpful staff members.

Seymour C.A.R.E.S. seeks volunteer shelter manager
If this is an emergency where an animal is sick/hurt, you MUST contact your town Animal Control.
If they're closed, call your police station.
At the very least, transport the animal to the emergency vet.
Email seymourcares@yahoo.com if you have adoption questions, need to surrender a pet or help with strays/ferals, or have a lost pet. Provide details.

Seymour Public Library to host Pet Boredom Busters presentation
Bad weather, injuries, short winter days: What can you do to curb your pets' boredom and deep them happy and healthy?
Learn different DIY tips and tricks to keep all types of pets active. This program is FREE to humans, unfortunately, we can't invite animals to attend this program.
For those who wish to donate, non-perishable, unexpired and unopened pet food will be accepted for the CT Humane Society that evening as well.

Ansonia Animal Shelter to hold pet costume contest at harvest festival
ANSONIA - The Ansonia Animal Shelter is having a "Pet Costume Contest" at the Ansonia Harvest Festival. A picture of your pet needs to be dropped off at the PD by Sept. 22.
Tickets will be available to purchase to vote for your favorite costume. Ticket chosen and animal will win gift card.
Come down to the Harvest Festival and support us and your favorite pet!!

Shops at Seymour to celebrate Dog Days of Summer
"Please join us as we celebrate the Dog Days of Summer and support animal charities. A portion of all sales will be donated to the Ansonia Animal Shelter and Hometown Foundation.
"We will also be collecting pet food, toys, towels, and blankets for Seymour CARES."
The celebration will be held from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 23 at 19 Bank St., Seymour.

Donate food to pay overdue fines at Seymour Public Library
"Have some overdue books and want to give a gift of food instead? We are doing "Food for Fines" from April 16 - May 4. Please bring in a can or any non-perishable food for humans or pets for each overdue book you have and we will donate everything to the Seymour Food Bank or Seymour CARES. Please make sure the food is not expired."

DERBY - Join us for one of our popular Pet First Aid Classes being hosted from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Jan. 27 by the People and Animals Working in Spirit (PAWS) therapy dog group at Griffin Hospital.
Come meet the EARS Team and learn about the work we do responding to medical emergencies and technical rescues involving animals in our community, stay for our Pet First Aid class from noon-1 p.m. which will include a multimedia presentation and hands-on learning, then join us for a Q&A session where you'll have the chance to ask your questions of our team!
Registration is required, but this program is open to all ages. Stay tuned for information on how to register.
There is a $10 per person suggested donation; all contributions will go to help EARS continue its pet response mission.
Griffin Hospital is at 130 Division St.
