Throughout his career, Lieutenant Lynch demonstrated unwavering commitment, professionalism, and leadership while serving and protecting our community. His dedication to the residents of Ansonia, as well as the officers and staff he worked alongside, has left a lasting impact on this department and the countless lives he touched throughout his career.

Ansonia Police officers congratulated on 35 years of service

The Ansonia Police Department would like to congratulate Lt. Patrick Lynch and Sgt. Christopher Flynn on completing 35 years of service at the Ansonia Police Department.

Lt. Lynch and Sgt. Flynn were hired on April 11, 1990 and have served in multiple capacities at the agency.

Lt. Lynch is currently the Operations Commander for the Ansonia Police Department while Sgt. Flynn is in charge of the day shift.

We want to wish them the best of luck as they continue their careers of serving the citizens of Ansonia and Thank You for your dedicated service.

ANSONIA -The Ansonia Police Department regrets to announce the passing of our K9, Kane. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Officer Paul Smith and his family.

Kane fell ill yesterday and after round the clock treatment and testing was found to have cancer. Kane was euthanized today [Monday] at 6 p.m. and an official ceremony honoring him and his service to the City of Ansonia, the Police Department, and citizens will take place in the near future.

Thank you Kane for your 8 years of dedicated service, rest easy.

Seymour Congregational Church to host Living Nativity, service on Christmas Eve

SEYMOUR - Join us [at Seymour Congregational Church, 45 Broad St.] for in-person and virtual Christmas Eve Service at 5 p.m. Friday.

From 3-5 p.m. there will be a Living Nativity on the front lawn of the church. Visit with the animals and those who were there the night Jesus was born. Merry Christmas!
Masks are required for the Christmas Eve service.

Shelton church, Seymour Legion Post to host 'Four Chaplains' program

SHELTON - The First Baptist Church of Shelton, 178 Leavenworth Road, will hold a service at 2 p.m. Sunday to learn about and honor the memory and contributions of four World War II chaplains.
On Feb. 3, 1943 these four men of God -Methodist, Jewish, Catholic, and Dutch-Reformed - worked selflessly together to share the love of God, sacrificing their own lives to help troops and civilians aboard the sinking ship S.S. Dorchester.

The annual event is sponsored by American Legion Post 10 of Seymour. It will be followed by a free reception. 
Parking is available. There is an elevator for visitors using wheelchairs.

DERBY - The Derby Public Library now offers a new service - mobile printing.  

You can now print remotely from your phone, tablet, laptop, or home computer and pick up your prints at the Library Circulation Desk.  

Prints will be released once the associated funds have been received and must be picked up within two business days.

Derby hosts 9/11 service Friday on Green

The 9/11 memorial on the Derby Green that features a piece of steel salvaged from one of the World Trade Center towers.

Derby firefighters and residents gathered Friday for a service of remembrance to mark the 14th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Dugatto asks Derby citizens to fly flags at half-staff Friday

To remember terrorist attack victims

DERBY - In conjunction with the action of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, Mayor Anita Dugatto is reminding all citizens of Derby that U.S. and state flags should fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 men, women, and children who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The City will also remember the 14th anniversary of that tragic day by participating in a Memorial Service on the Derby Green at 6 p.m. led by the Hotchkiss Hose Company #1 of the Derby Fire Department.

“As we remember the victims and heroes from that terrible day 14 years ago, we pause to honor the sacrifices of so many people who make our country the best in the world,” Dugatto said. “We hope to see a large turnout in honoring the 161 Connecticut residents who lost their lives that day.”

Dugatto has directed city staff members to carry out the suggestion of Gov. Malloy.
