Ansonia posts possible discolored water alert

Regional Water Authority- Possible Discolored Water
💦🚰☀️
The City of Ansonia has been advised by the Regional Water Authority that as a result of the extreme heat and increased water demands, residents may experience temporarily discolored water over the next few days.
Discoloration of water may occur when the naturally occurring minerals that normally settle to the bottom of a water main are stirred up due to a change in the flow of water. Discolored water is usually not harmful, but it is unappealing and can cause residue or stains.
Regional Water recommends that customers wait until the discoloration clears before drinking the water, and also postpone doing dishes and laundry to avoid residue or stains.
Discolored water is temporary and most discolored water events clear on their own. Regional Water will also have crews in the field all weekend to help clear up discolored water issues.
For up to date information visit the RWA Website rwater.com or their social media pages. You can also call them at 203 562-4020.
Have a safe Independence Day weekend, stay cool and don't forget to check on your neighbors, family and friends as we deal with this extreme heat together.
Ansonia's Cooling Center at the ARMS Building located at 22 West Main St. remains open daily through Sunday for residents who need to escape the heat in an air conditioned space from 9 am until 6 pm.

City of Ansonia issues Code Red Alert, parking ban lifted

This is a Code Red Alert from the City of Ansonia.

As of noon on Tuesday, the full parking ban has been lifted.

The City of Ansonia will still be following the normal winter parking rules. The plowing and cleaning of streets is expected to take multiple days to complete and the State is expected to receive more snow tomorrow.

Roadways have been narrowed due to the large amount of snow on the streets. If you have the ability, you are requested to find alternate parking and not park on the street, especially those that are narrow.

When parking on city streets, you cannot park your vehicle if it will block other vehicles from driving on the street. Again, remember that streets have been narrowed by the multiple snow storms.

Please follow the Board of Education for updates on school opening for Wednesday. If you are parked in a Board of Education lot, please remove your vehicle immediately so that the Board of Education can clear the lots in preparation for opening.

Remember that residents and businesses are responsible for shoveling the sidewalks in front of their homes or businesses. Do not throw snow into the roadway. Thank you for your patience as this cleanup continues.

Thank you, City of Ansonia
