Fill public works truck in Derby, support St. Vincent De Paul food pantry
DERBY - The Public Works Department will mark National Public Works Week May 21-25 by collecting donations for St. Vincent De Paul food pantry in Derby.
The drop-off location is 4 Coon Hollow Road.
Residents are asked to donate non-perishable food items between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Scouts to collect food, care package items at Ansonia Stop and Shop
DERBY - BSA Troop 3 will hold two community service efforts Saturday at Stop and Shop, 100 Division St., Ansonia. The Scouts will be stationed at Stop and Shop from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
“In Scouting, we are taught to do our good turn daily and to give back to others. This is our way of helping the hungry and showing support for those who are defending our freedom,” said Troop 3 Senior Patrol Leader Zack Thomas, 16, of Seymour.They will also be collecting holiday care package items and donations to send to servicemen and women from the Lower Naugatuck Valley. The Troop has been sending care packages annually since World War II, when more than 100 Troop 3 alumni were serving overseas.
Housatonic Council BSA’s Troop 3 was founded in 1914, and is sponsored by the Derby Second Congregational Church, where it meets at 7 p.m. Wednesdays.

Derby PD auxiliary to hold food drive for St. Vincent de Paul
'Stuff-a-Cruiser' to help needy neighbors
DERBY - The Derby Police Department’s Auxiliary Unit will hold its 2nd Annual Holiday Food Drive to benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Derby from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
The "Stuff-a-Cruiser" event will be held outside of ShopRite, 49 Pershing Drive.
Officers will accept non-perishable food donations to feed needy Derby families.
St. Vincent de Paul operates a thrift store and food bank at 237 Roosevelt Drive.
Last year the four-cruiser goal was crushed, as the community stuffed 13-1/2 cruisers with more than $15,000 worth of food!
Give while you check your own Thanksgiving shopping off your to-do list.
As you celebrate with family and loved ones this holiday, know that you helped provide for families that might otherwise go hungry.
