On this day in 1865, the first meeting of The Salvation Army took place in a white tent on an old Quaker burial mound in the east end of London!

Thank you William and Catherine Booth for responding to God's call all those many years ago.

We thank God for our global movement that's currently operating in 134 countries! To God be the Glory!

Salvation Army in Ansonia recognizes trailblazer during Black History Month

As we reach the halfway point of Black History Month, we continue to honor trailblazers like Delilah Collier, O.F., whose life was dedicated to faith, inclusion, and service.

In 1977, Delilah co-founded the Eastern Territory Black Ministries Committee to amplify Black voices and advocate for leadership training within The Salvation Army. Her legacy of unwavering hospitality, encouragement, and love is a powerful reminder of the impact one individual can have in shaping a better future.

Let’s continue to celebrate Black history this month, reflecting on powerful stories like Delilah’s, and working together toward equity, love, and justice for all.

ANSONIA - Quinnipiac University students recently cleared brush and prepared raised boxes at the community garden located behind Salvation Army headquarters in Ansonia.

ANSONIA - Greater Valley Salvation Army Corps Capt. Cheryl McCollum said today the food pantry urgently needs donations of pasta, sauce, and canned meats.

The Corps at 26 Lester St. is open weekdays from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

ANSONIA - The Salvation Army will hold its Vacation Bible School July 17-21 at Corps' headquarters, 26 Lester St. Hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Campers will enjoy an interactive, energizing, Bible-based good time.

ANSONIA - As a Salvation Army Advisory Board member I'm spreading the word about Camp CONNRI, situated on 272 acres in Ashford, CT.

The faith-based camp is for ages 7-12.
