Maple sugaring program slated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6 on Facebook Live

Tune in on the Ansonia Nature Center's Facebook page and join Wendy and Alison as they present an introduction to making maple syrup the old-fashioned way.

They will demonstrate how to tap a maple tree for its sap and show how the sap is  evaporated over an open fire as part of the sugaring process.

Let’s Draw Animals! Facebook Live

Live drawing class from the Ansonia Nature Center with artist and ranger, Amie.

Our resident artist Amie will demonstrate how to draw a rabbit and a guinea pig, using our own live “models” Anson, Cocoa, and Abby.


While drawing you’ll learn some interesting facts about these animals, so it’s a bit of science as well as art. No registration is required.


Participants should have the following supplies:

  • White paper
  • Crayons

What better way to spend cocktail hour than to join us in the creation of your own still life? 

Artist Amie Ziner will teach you the history of the 18th-century Conté crayon and vine charcoal as she guides you in the creation of your own masterpiece.

BYOB, a pad of paper, and your dry colored pastels (even crayons).
