The Hops Company in Derby to host Fisher House fundraiser

DERBY - The Hops Company, Connecticut’s only authentic beer garden, will host its third annual “Road Home for the Holidays” charitable event from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 30. 

Partnering with Two Roads Brewery for the third year, the event will be a memorable night filled with fun, food, great beer, games, raffles, and contests including ugly holiday sweater contest to benefit military service men and women. 

The Hops Company and Two Roads will donate $1 from the sale of each Two Roads pint of beer to the Fisher House Foundation.  
The Fisher House Foundation reunites families of injured veterans while they’re in the hospital. It uses donations to build large, multi-family homes where loved ones can stay without charge while their heroes heal.

Bobby Wheeler will be playing live music from 9 p.m. until midnight.

DERBY - Bingo for Boobies is on tap from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 9 at The Hops Company, 77 Sodom Lane. 
The fundraiser will benefit The Valley Goes Pink. 

The event will feature a fun-filled night of bingo and great prizes, including a flat-screen TV. 
A $25 donation includes 10 bingo sheets and pizza.
Raffles will be available. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The Hops Company in Derby to host BARKtoberfest Sunday

DERBY - Following the success of last spring’s Beer for Beasts, The Hops Company, Connecticut’s only authentic beer garden, will host BARKtoberfest from noon-4 p.m. Sunday. Rain date is Oct. 29.

The event will allow guests to bring their leashed dogs to partake in fun activities at The Hops Company’s back garden; $1 from the sale of each beer will be donated to the Shelton Animal Shelter and Friends of the New Haven Animal Shelter.

A celebration of beer, people, and our faithful four-legged companions, the event will also include adoption opportunities.

Umberto Morale, owner of The Hops Company said, “The Hops Company is always looking for ways to give back to our local community. This spring’s Beer for Beasts event was an enormous success, raising over $2,400 for local animal shelters. 

"We expect BARKtoberfest to carry on this tradition and provide a fun day for animal lovers and their dogs to experience our expansive outdoor garden.”

The event will be held in the back garden with parking at 43 Marshall Lane.
All pets must be on a leash.

CT Libations event to benefit Derby Historical Society

DERBY - Join Derby Historical Society members April 24 at The Hops Company, 77 Sodom Lane, for a night of CT Libations, delicious food and great music to benefit the Restoration Project at the David Humphreys House and Museum.
The event runs from 6-9 p.m.

A $30 ticket includes samples of craft beer and cider from participating breweries, a $7 voucher for your first beer or wine at the bar, a $5 food voucher, great music from “Dead Fish for Christmas,” and entry to the door prize drawings throughout the event.

Tickets must be paid in advance, by April 18.  

Your donation will be matched dollar for dollar thanks to a generous grant from the Persbacker Family Foundation. Last year we raised more than $8,800 with this event!  Come help us do it again!

As the cornerstone of the Derby Historical Society, the David Humphreys House in Ansonia serves as both a museum and as a hands-on classroom for our “Day in 1762” program; introducing schoolchildren to Derby’s Revolutionary War hero David Humphreys and the region’s colorful colonial past. 
As you can imagine, a 300-year-old house requires quite a bit of upkeep. 
We are currently in the process of raising $200,000 for a major restoration of the exterior of the building. We are close to completing Phase One of the restoration.

Did you know, back in 1657, Derby’s first permanent settler, Edward Wooster, was drawn to the Lower Naugatuck Valley on the quest of raising hops? Cheers to a great time for a great cause!

Seymour High Class of '86 to host reunion Sept. 17 in Derby

SEYMOUR - Attention Seymour High School's Class of 1986: it's been 30 years since graduation and it's time to celebrate...blue and gold style! A 30th class reunion is scheduled for 7 to 11 p.m. Sept. 17 at The Hops Company (formerly Grassy Hill Lodge), at 77 Sodom Lane, Derby. 

Tickets are $25 per person, and include pizza from Zuppardi's, along with a cash bar.
