Ansonia Police charge 2 with unlawful discharge, interfering after shots fired

ANSONIA - Two people were charged with firing a gun after Ansonia Police received a call of shots fired at 3:40 a.m. Sunday in the area of Beaver Street near the Seymour town line, Lt. Patrick Lynch said in a written release. 

The first officer on scene found a truck parked off the road near the woods and when the officer exited the cruiser, two people ran into the woods. The officer was able to detain the first person but the second person remained in the woods for over an hour before coming out, Lynch said

The two people, identified as Jesse Bonavia and Brianna Solsbury, admitted to firing a gun owned by Bonavia and officers recovered the gun as well as shell casings, Lynch said.

Bonavia, 29, of Hamden was charged with unlawful discharge and interfering. 

Solsbury, 29, of Waterbury was charged with unlawful discharge and Interfering. 

They both were released on $5,000 bonds and are both scheduled to appear June 27 at Derby Superior Court.

Kellogg Environmental Center in Derby to host artist's exhibiition

DERBY - Come enjoy original artwork by Agnes Wnuk at the Kellogg Environmental Center, 500 Hawthorne Ave.  

A collection of her acrylic and watercolor pieces is the featured exhibit for the month of June. Guests are invited to enjoy the works and walk the Kellogg Estate gardens. 

A ‘Meet the Artist Reception’ will be held from 2-4 p.m. June 26. Guests will visit the Center to view the paintings of florals and garden scenes, meet Agnes to learn about her methods and inspirations, and enjoy her travel sketchbooks documenting her trips and travels. 

Each year Connecticut’s Historic Gardens collaborative hosts a poster contest promoting CT Historic Gardens Day. 

Agnes is the featured artist on this year’s poster.  CT State Parks is proud to have the Osborne Homestead Museum as the featured site and Agnes’ original painting is part of her show at the Center. 

In the last six years, Agnes has expanded to exploring colored pencil, oils, pastels, watercolors, and urban sketching. 

She has sketched on location in Bermuda, St. Maarten, Mallorca, Spain, and Key West, as well as around New England, New York State and Colorado. She also took part in the annual Urban Sketchers Symposium in Amsterdam in July 2019, completing an entire sketchbook during a weeklong excursion.
