Recuperation journey: Pet peeve revealed

I've always tried really hard to keep things positive, especially what I write in a blog post.
But I can't help but complain about the way people drive.

It's not a race, people! I don't want to feel like I'm taking my life in my hands when I pull out of my driveway.
We're all on the road to get to work or school, go shopping, bring the kids somewhere, or to get a cup of coffee in our local drive-thru.

Why must we drive 20 miles per hour over the speed limit to accommodate the idiot behind us? I can't understand why everyone is in such a rush.

It's not a race. It's not a competition. It's daily life.

Please slow down!

Recuperation journey: Fun with wildlife

Peanut shell in shrub; photo taken Saturday evening.

This is a long story that has been going on for a while around here. One of our neighbors has been putting peanuts out for our local wildlife.

The squirrels and blue jays are particularly happy about that.
They seem to be playing a game with whole peanuts and empty shells. We find them everywhere in the yard.
I think they may be hiding them from each other.
This morning Ralph saw a blue jay hide a peanut in the shrub (pictured above). The blue jay knows where it is, but I'm pretty sure the squirrels are clueless.

Turns out I wrote about this exactly five months ago! Ralph just reminded me of that fact, and here's the link.

I'm easily amused, and thought it would be fun to again share our ongoing peanut saga.

Recuperation journey: Feeling grateful

When a friendly neighbor drops what she is doing to help you, that's a wonderful thing. That happened to me Sunday, and I was most appreciative.

I'd do the same for her or another neighbor, but I know from experience not everyone would!

Gratitude is indeed the best attitude.

Recuperation journey: Attend to me

Linus: I'm hungry! I need lunch!

Me: Eat your dry food. It's only 11:40 a.m.

And so it goes. At about the same time every day. He hops up on my desk and stares.

Recuperation journey: Cereal, anyone?

Soon after Ralph and I were married I learned of his love for cold cereal. It plays a major role in most of his breakfasts.

I daresay he craves it, much like one would  crave chocolate cake or apple pie.

I, on the other hand, often joke that consuming cereal reminds me of eating cardboard - not that I've ever eaten cardboard.
And it doesn't fill me up. Ralph doesn't quite understand.

I was inspired to write this post because today I had my semi-annual bowl of cold cereal. The banana slices on top helped to make the experience less boring.

And now I'm off the hook for another six months!

Recuperation journey: Traveling banana

I've been immersed in a banana situation of late. Sound strange? This is my life.

As regular readers must realize, my husband Ralph and I work from home, sitting at our respective computers a few feet apart. And since he has a physical disability I try to make things as easy as possible for him.

Each morning I put a banana next to his cereal bowl at the table. (Ralph is a cold cereal aficionado).
If he doesn't eat said banana, I put it next to his phone on his desk for a healthy snack.

If it is still there at the end of the day, I put it back by his place at the table.
The banana usually starts out a bit green, but by the third or fourth day of this wackiness it starts to get some brown spots.

Sometimes he will snack on it, but it feels like more often than not I'm carrying it back and forth.
Another glimpse into my oh-so interesting daily life.

Recuperation journey: Tabletop tree, kitty, and me

I think I'll leave my cute little tree up for a few more weeks.
It's so cozy to have the colored lights brightening the room after the sun goes down.

Linus surprised me Monday by jumping up on the table, so it was time to take a photo.

He doesn't bother to jump up very much any more! I guess he only will do it only when the spirit moves him.
