K of C to hold pig roast, corn hole tourney on St. Mary Church grounds in Derby

DERBY - Join us for a good ol’ Pig Roast and Corn Hole Tournament sponsored by the Knights of Columbus from 5-8 p.m. Sept. 13 on the grounds of St. Mary Church. 

Enjoy delicious roast pig, beer, and other beverages while participating (or watching) in the corn hole tournament! 

Tickets are $30 at the door and grammar school-age kids eat free!

Advance tickets can be purchased from the church office for $25. M-Th, 9-4.

St. Patrick's Day Dinner slated at Assumption Church hall in Ansonia

ANSONIA - A St. Patrick’s Day Dinner sponsored by Knights of Columbus Council 23 will be held from 5-8 p.m. March 16 at Assumption Church hall, 61 N. Cliff St.

A traditional corned beef dinner will be served and there will be entertainment provided by the Horgan Irish Dancers. 

Admission is $20; children 12 and under are admitted free. 
The hall is handicapped accessible.

DERBY - Knights of Columbus Council #28 at St. Mary the Immaculate Conception Church recently donated 48 brand new children’s coats to TEAM Inc.

The coats cost approximately $1,000, and the Knights sold “Keep Christ in Christmas” car magnets to raise fund for the purchase.

The donation is part of the Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids program, which allows councils across North America to purchase new winter coats for children at a discount and to distribute them to children in need in their local communities. 

Since the program’s launching in 2009, nearly 500,000 coats have been distributed in 49 states and all 10 Canadian provinces. In winter 2017 alone, the Knights of Columbus distributed 105,192 coats in 1,600 communities throughout the U.S. and Canada, including events at military bases, in Native American communities, at inner-city neighborhoods, and through partnerships with local police and fire departments.

Founded in 1965, TEAM (Training, Education, and Manpower) is a community action agency serving 10 communities in the Lower Naugatuck Valley. 
TEAM provides critical human and social services to over 5,000 families in the Lower Naugatuck Valley and also the neighboring towns of Bethany, Milford, Orange, and Woodbridge.

St. Patrick's Day celebration slated at Assumption Church hall in Ansonia

ANSONIA - The Knights of Columbus Valley Council 23 will host a St. Patrick’s Celebration from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 17 in Assumption Church hall, 61 N. Cliff St.

The celebration features dancers from the Horgan Academy of Irish Dance and a DJ.

The price is $20 for adults; $10 for children under 12.
Dinner will include traditional corned beef and cabbage, carrots, potatoes, cold and hot drinks, and dessert.

 
Proceeds will benefit Unbound foster child Maura Cepeda, in memory of Father Sullivan’s mother Phyllis.

K of C to host free throw contest at Assumption School in Ansonia

ANSONIA - The Knights of Columbus Council 23 will host a free throw contest from 1-3 p.m. Jan. 13 at Assumption School gym, 51 North Cliff St.
The contest is for girls and boys ages 9 to 14 as of Jan. 1.
Parental consent and proof of age are required to compete.

Winners will receive prizes and move on to advanced levels of competition.

K of C to give coats to needy children at Assumption Church hall in Ansonia

ANSONIA - Valley Council 23 of the Knights of Columbus will give out a limited number of new coats for needy children from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Assumption Church hall. 
The distribution will be held during the Master’s Table annual Christmas Dinner.

The church is at 61 N. Cliff St.

The knights will give away free new winter coats to children in need on a first come, first serve basis. 

Children must be present to receive a coat. Sizes are: girls coats 4-16, boys coats 4-18.

Knights of Columbus to sponsor variety show at Holy Rosary in Ansonia

ANSONIA - The Knights of Columbus will sponsor a variety show at 6:45 p.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Church hall, 10 Father Salemi Drive. 
Doors open at 5:15 p.m.

Tickets are $15. 
BYOB; mixers, snacks, coffee, tea will be available.
Entertainment will be provided by a magician, Take Four barbershop quartet, and a comedian.
