Derby Neck Library to host Dinner and a Movie Dec. 7
We’ll provide pizza, a drink, something salty, something sweet, and Angela Lansbury in “Mrs. Santa Claus” on the library’s big screen.
No registration required, but doors close to newcomers at 5:45 p.m.
Special thanks to our Friends group for their assistance during this program.

Derby Neck Library to host Dinner and a Movie Thursday
DERBY - Dinner and a Movie is back at Derby Neck Library! The movie tomorrow, Feb. 2, is The Banshees of Inisherin.
Attendees will enjoy a feature film on Blu-ray with an intermission complete with a pizza dinner. Popcorn and other movie snacks will be offered throughout.
Keep an eye out in the library for the flyers that show the feature film! No registration is required.
Please note that there will be a difference to how dinner is served. Pizza will be served by a volunteer from the library’s Friends group instead of buffet style as in years past. All snacks will be pre-portioned or individually wrapped.

At 6:30 p.m. Feb. 12, the Library presents a powerpoint lecture by Patricia Sweeney, Ph.D.
The topic is “The Civil War Career of Major Wilbur F. Osborne.”
Osborne is the library’s founder and served with distinction as an officer in The First Connecticut Heavy Artillery.

Derby Neck Library to host author/photographer, dinner and a movie
DERBY - Derby Neck Library, 307 Hawthorne Ave., will host Dinner and a Movie for those ages 18 and older, at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 5.

The Library will present author, photographer, and lecturer Kevin Woyce at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 18.

Derby Neck Library to host calligraphy workshop, dinner and movie, more
DERBY - Calligrapher Debby Reelitz returns to Derby Neck Library from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 6) to lead a free workshop.
Reelitz will guide attendees through the process of creating a “Versal Letter.”
This can be your own initial, or that of a loved one. All supplies are provided.
Your completed project can be framed and would make a lovely holiday gift.

Derby Neck Library to show movie about Elton John
DERBY - The monthly Dinner and a Movie for adults 18+ will be Rocketman at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 5 at Derby Neck Library, 307 Hawthorne Ave.
This biographical film tells the story of singer/songwriter ELTON JOHN and stars TARON EGERTON in the lead role.
It provides insights into his troubled childhood, his rise to stardom, and his addiction struggles.
Doors close at 5:45 p.m. No registration is required so bring your friends for a really fun evening.

Derby Neck Library to host "Miracle on 34th Street," tea talk, more
DERBY - Derby Neck Library presents a free program, “Cutting the Cord,” at 6 p.m. Dec 3. It explains how to drop your cable TV bill and move over to streaming services.
Options will be discussed, such as which service best fits your needs among those all recently added to the market.
Dinner and a Movie
The Library hosts “Dinner and a Movie” for ages 18 and older at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 6.
This month’s film is the holiday classic, “Miracle on 34th Street.”

Tea expert to speak
At 6:30 p.m. Dec. 12 the Library hosts “Fighting Colds and Flu with Tea,” with tea expert Philip Parda.
Parda owns a company dedicated to the selection and importation of the best teas on a world-wide basis.
A tea-tasting session is included with his talk. Seating is limited to 20; call ahead to reserve a space.

DERBY - The Derby Neck Library hosts Dinner and a Movie, for ages 18 and older, at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 4.
This month’s featured film is “Jurassic World 2.”
Enjoy a blu-ray presentation on a large screen with free refreshments, including a pizza dinner at intermission.
Storyteller to visit on Columbus Day
The Library presents professional storyteller Monica Peterson at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 8 on Columbus Day sharing fascinating tales from her own Italian heritage.
Several stories bring to the fore the perils of immigration out of Italy and the fight against Fascism in Italy’s past, among other topics. This is a program for everyone wishing to be entertained and educated by an energetic performer.

Create art, learn to de-clutter, watch a movie at Derby Neck Library
This month’s feature film is “Book Club.”
This is a free event; movie refreshments will be served, including pizza at intermission.

At 6 p.m. Sept. 12 the Library presents Anita Taylor, professional organizer and author demonstrating how to Organize Your Clutter. Learn the systems and easy solutions to simplify your things.
Copies of Anita’s book will also be available to purchase.
Women's Forum
The Library hosts Women’s Forum, a monthly discussion group, at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 17.
For this session the focus is on two witty short stories: “The Whistle” by Benjamin Franklin, and “My Financial Career” by Stephen Leacock. Copies are available at the library.

The Library offers a free session of Pixel Art Creation for teens and tweens at 4 p.m. Sept. 26.
Learn to use perler beads to create your own favorite characters, such as Pikachu, to keep and enjoy.

The Library presents a lesson in Calligraphy run by Debby Reelitz, specialist and instructor, at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 27.
This is a free, two-hour session in which you will create an illustrated, decorative initial (versal letter) to keep.
