Beacon Falls Public Library to host Firefly Walk

"Join us [at 8:15 p.m. July 20] for a family night out at Matthies Park! We will start with a story time under the pavilion, learn some fun facts about fireflies, and then try to observe some of these fascinating insects for ourselves.
Refreshments will be served under the pavilion following the walk (S'Mores and Hot Cocoa).

"This event is a fundraiser to support STEM and Robotics programming at the Beacon Falls Public Library.
Suggested donation is $5/family. Registration is requested so that we can plan for refreshments.

It was a beautiful morning to stand under the mulberry tree to try to get one good photo of the birds. 
They love the mulberries but they move so fast. As soon as I would see one amongst the leaves it would fly away. Finally got this one.

DERBY- Griffin Hospital will offer a free presentation on minimally invasive hip replacement surgery at 5:45 p.m. July 17 at the hospital.

Orthopedic surgeon Philip Minotti, M.D., will discuss the advanced direct anterior approach for hip replacement, which offers important advantages over standard surgical procedures. Direct anterior hip replacement patients generally experience less pain along with a shorter length of stay in the hospital and faster recovery.  
Minotti will be available at the end of the presentation to answer any questions from attendees.

These seminars are offered monthly at Griffin Hospital, 130 Division St. 
Refreshments will be served.
