Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton to host Teen Wellness Circle seminar


SHELTON - Teen Wellness Circle: This is a seminar, with Miss Kathi and Mr. Joe, to help discover your mental health and well-being. 

Program is for teens ages 13 and older, and discover how to overcome the stresses in life. This is a multi-part series and each session is a separate sign-up. Each month, we will have a different topic or strategy to take care of your mental health. 

This first session is an introduction and learn about how to use journaling as a tool for stress management. 

It will be held April 5 from 1-2 p.m. at Plumb Memorial Library, 65 Wooster St.

Wildlife seminar slated at Ansonia Armory, donations sought


ANSONIA - A wildlife seminar will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Ansonia Armory, 5 State St.
Wildlife supply donations will be greatly appreciated at the event. They include boxes of tissues, wet wipes, fleece blankets, hard nuts, unsalted peanuts, almonds, and walnuts.

DERBY - Griffin Health will offer a free virtual presentation on joint replacement options at 6 p.m. Jan. 11.

Orthopaedic Surgeon Gary R. Richo, M.D., PhD, will present “Advances in Joint Replacement,” an open discussion of the causes of joint pain, conservative treatment options, total joint replacement techniques, post-surgical recovery and the return to normal activities.

The presentation will also include information about Griffin’s advanced surgical technology, including 3D Mako SmartRobotics™ which provides unmatched precision in knee procedures.


Dr. Richo will be available at the end of the presentation to answer any questions from attendees.

Griffin Bariatrics to offer virtual weight-loss presentations

DERBY - Griffin Bariatrics will offer free virtual presentations on weight-loss services at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 20, at noon Oct. 26, and at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 1.


Led by Griffin Hospital Director of Bariatrics Dr. Abe Fridman, this seminar will explain how bariatric surgery can help patients lose significant amounts of weight, enhance their health, and provide long-term outcomes. 

Additionally, techniques, support programs, pre- and post-operative expectations, and insurance questions are also be discussed.
