Renaissance Faire planned at Warsaw Park in Ansonia


ANSONIA - The Midsummer Fantasy Renaissance Faire will return for three consecutive weekends to Warsaw Park, 119 Pulaski Highway.

The event will run from 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. June 20-21, June 27-28, and July 4-5, rain or shine.

SHELTON - The Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce will host SchmoozaPalooza, the 14th annual Business After Hours & Expo, from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday at One Waterview Drive.
The event promises to be as fun to attend as it is to say!

CWV Post in Derby to host dinner and movie tonight

DERBY - Catholic War Veterans Post 1562 and Auxiliary will hold their monthly Pasta Dinner and a Movie at 6:30 p.m. today at the Post, 112 Derby Ave.

Have some pasta, meatballs, salad, and dessert for only $6 and if you like, stay for the movie and popcorn.

Yesterday's Headlines focus of talk at Derby Library

DERBY - The Derby Public Library welcomes back Rob Novak, Jr., Local Historian, at 6:30 p.m. June 8 to discuss Yesterday’s Headlines.  

Novak has specialized in presenting local history in fun, interactive formats for both general and specific audiences
for more than 20 years. 
He is past director of the Derby Historical Society and the City of Shelton's Municipal Historian.  

Novak has authored four books through Arcadia Publications, and has been a popular historical columnist.  

Participants will be taken back to 1915, 1940, and 1965 to see what was happening 
locally 100, 75, and 50 years ago in the Valley.

Shelton troupe to hold auditions for 'Peter Pan'

SHELTON - Gary Scarpa, artistic director, Center Stage Theatre, 54 Grove St., has announced the audition schedule for the Youth CONNection's production of "Peter Pan." 

The musical will be performed this summer at Shelton High School's Percy Kingsley Auditorium, 120 Meadow St.

High school and college students will audition at 10 a.m.- 1p.m. May 23, and elementary and middle school students will audition from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. May 24.

Social Security topic of series at Ansonia Library

ANSONIA - The Ansonia Library will host a series, Social Security: Your Questions Answered, from 11 a.m.-noon Wednesdays, starting this Wednesday (May 13) through June 24.

Social Security will likely be the foundation of your retirement income.

Derby Library to host program on TV series' fashion

DERBY - An innovative program, Downton Abbey: Fashion and Social Change, will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Derby Public Library.

Susan Jerome, Collection Manager, University of Rhode Island Historic Textile and Costume Collection, created this program as a result of the television phenomenon, Downton Abbey, set in the early 20th century.

The presentation will highlight the social, technological, and political changes of the time period and show how they influenced the fashion choices of the first five seasons.
