Treasured Time to host painting parties at studio in Oxford

OXFORD - Treasured Time will host two painting parties in March – one for adults and another for kids at Rad Art Studio in the Tommy K’s Plaza, 144 Oxford Road.

A trendy and fun “Paint & Sip Party” will be held from 6:30-9 p.m. March 9.

Local artist Adriene Radcliffe will guide participants in painting their own masterpiece with easy, step-by-step instructions.
Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite beverage and sip along with the strokes of the paint brush. By the end of the night, everyone has their own work of art to take home.

The cost is $40 per person and includes canvas, paint, and brushes. The event is B.Y.O.B. Stuffed breads will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring snacks to share.

Treasured Time’s first “Paint & Snack Party” for kids of all ages and the young at heart will be from 2-4 p.m. March 12. Radcliffe will guide participants in painting Poppy or Branch from the popular animated movie, “Trolls” to take home.

The cost is $25 per person and includes canvas, paint and brushes. Each participant will be provided with a bottle of water and a cupcake. If your child has any food allergies please bring an appropriate snack for them.
Proceeds from both events will benefit Treasured Time and its efforts to grant the wishes of parents with life-threatening illnesses who want to create a lasting memory with their children.

Folks have fun creating art outside Lizzie's Corner in Seymour

Daughter Allegra works on her painting technique.

SEYMOUR - The weather certainly cooperated Saturday afternoon for a Paint and Sip held 'en plein air' at Lizzie's Corner Consignment and Gifts, 19 Bank St.

The painting class was taught by Gayle Caro, a wonderfully patient art instructor from Kokopelli School of Music and Arts, 44 Smith St.
Her encouragement as I made a mess with acrylics on the canvas board was much appreciated.

Gayle taught us to create a color wheel to paint the petals.

Woops! I accidentally made the yellow petals green. I need some yellow paint to rectify the situation!

Allegra was able to keep her paint colors separated. I have a lot to learn.
But we both had a great time at the class and we're looking forward to the next one.

Kokopelli Music and Arts will donate a portion of the event proceeds to suicide prevention, and 20 percent of all sales Saturday at Lizzie's Corner also will be donated.

Proceeds will benefit Treasured Time and its efforts to grant the wishes of parents with life-threatening illnesses who want to create a lasting memory with their children.

This fundraiser will help support experiences like the recent one planned for Cheryl Speller, a 44-year old single mother of six children, who would like to take her family on a cruise this summer.

In January 2012, Speller was diagnosed with infiltrating ductal carcinoma, also known as triple negative breast cancer. After undergoing a lumpectomy in February 2012, as well as undergoing months of radiation and chemotherapy, she and her family believed she was free of cancer.
However, this February, Speller was diagnosed to have a more aggressive Stage IV reoccurrence of her original breast cancer. Despite the emotional, physical, and financial hardships she and her family have to endure, Speller lives life to its fullest with the highest level of humility and faith that there is a plan for her greater than she can ever understand.
