Seymour Pink posts deadline to earn 5K shirts, medals

Hello, Registration for the 12th Annual Pounding the Pavement for Pink 5k is underway.  In an effort to promote sustainability, and take into consideration your survey responses, for 2023 all race t-shirts and medals are optional during the registration process, however, the deadline to earn a shirt or medal is August 15th! Check out this year's limited edition medal design: Registration Options are the following: 5k in Seymour - October 7th - $35 5k Virtual - October 6-8th - $35 + Packet Shipping Kids Run in Seymour - October 7th - $15 (all participants will earn a medal!) Kids Run Virtual - October 6-8th - $15 (all participants will earn a medal!) + Packet Shipping On the Giveaways page of registration you can choose your shirt size OR select No-T-shirt. On the Add-Ons page of registration you can choose to add a medal. Both the shirt and medal are included in your overall race registration fee, so there is no additional cost. Register Now

Derby notifies residents of Aug. 1 tax deadline

Sharing a message from Derby City/Town Clerk Marc Garofalo:

"The Tax Collector has published the following notice on June 25, 2019, July 7, 2019, and July 27, 2019:

“Notice is hereby given to the taxpayers of the City of Derby that the Personal Property Taxes, the first half of Real Estate Taxes and the first half of Motor Vehicle on the October 1, 2018 Grand List are due and payable JULY 1, 2019. You have until AUGUST 1, 2019 to pay these taxes without penalty. ALL TAXES become delinquent August 2, 2019 and will be subject to interest from July 1, 2019 at the rate of one and one half percent per month. Failure to receive a bill does not invalidate the tax or any interest accrued. The Derby Tax office is located at 1 ELIZABETH ST and will be open Monday through Wednesday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Thursday 8:30 am - 6:00 pm and Friday 8:30 am - 12:30 pm.”

In short, the last day to pay your taxes that are due, without interest, is Thursday August 1, 2019.

City Hall will be open on August 1, 2019 from 8:30 am until 6:00 pm.

If your payment is made after August 1, 2019 at 6:00 pm then interest will be applied from July 1, 2019 to the date of payment.

If you mail your taxes and they are post marked on or before August 1, 2019 then no interest will be applied.

If your payment is post marked after August 1, 2019 then interest will be applied from July 1, 2019 to the date of payment.

Additionally, the night deposit box at City Hall is open and will be locked at 6:00 pm on Thursday August 1, 2019.

If you have deposited your tax payment in the night deposit box on or before Thursday August 1, 2019 at 6:00 pm then no interest will be applied.

Deadline extended for Ansonia tag sale signup

Register for the Ansonia Town Wide Tag Sale

9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 25 *

ANSONIA - Stop by the Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center now until July 10 Friday (July 17) to register a tag sale at your home location. 

For $10 your address will be added to our Town-Wide Tag Sale Map, which shoppers from all over the Valley can pick up the week of July 15 for a donation amount of your choice, at the Ansonia Nature Center, 10 Deerfield Road, to use as an easy guide around town. 

Or you can download the map from the website www.ansoniaculturalcommission.com.

For those who are unable to sell all their unwanted goods at the tag sale, My Sister’s Place, a thrift shop at 380 Main St. will accept your goods as donations via drop-off. 

All of its proceeds benefit The Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence Services, a program of BHcare.
