Oxford Memorial Day Parade steps off at 11 a.m. Monday

 

Ansonia Police Department posts Sunday's parade route

The annual City of Ansonia Memorial Day Parade is this Sunday, May 25, 2025.

The parade will begin at Nolan Field on Wakelee Avenue at 2 p.m.

In order to ensure all the parade participants are safe, we will be closing the parade route to vehicle traffic beginning at 1 p.m.

The parade route is Wakelee Avenue from Nolan Field to Jackson Street, left onto Jackson Street to Maple Street, right onto to Maple Street over the Maple Street bridge right onto Main Street and ending at Main Street and West Main Street.

Only vehicles involved in the parade and residents that live on Franklin Street, North Westwood, South Westwood Road and Wakelee Avenue from Franklin Street to the Seymour town line will be granted access to those areas starting at 1 p.m.

Additionally, East Main Street, between Kingston Drive and State Street, will be a no parking area to allow for temporary 2-way traffic during the parade.

We expect the road closures to last 2 to 3 hours.

Oxford Resident State Troopers to close Rt. 67 Monday for Memorial Day Parade

OXFORD - The Oxford Memorial Day Parade will be held Monday, May 29, stepping off at 11 a.m. and continuing until approximately 12:15 p.m.

We will begin to close Route 67 at Brookside Restaurant around 10 a.m., working our way up toward Oxford Town Hall.

Please utilize an alternate route as Route 67 will be closed to vehicular traffic for the safety of the spectators and participants.

Seymour Congregational Church to hold bake sale at Memorial Day Parade

SEYMOUR - Seymour Congregational Church will be having a bake sale during the parade so finger foods such as cookies, brownies, bars, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Drop-off time for these items is from 10 a.m.-noon May 27. The church is at 45 Broad St.

If you have the time please join us to get the goodies packaged up for the sale. Signup sheets available in Fellowship Hall.

Seymour Police announce street closings Sunday for Memorial Day Parade

SEYMOUR - On Sunday the town will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade starting at 11 a.m.

The parade route will start on Spruce St. at the French Memorial Park entrance, right onto Rt 67, left onto Main St and right onto Broad St. ending on Pine St.

During the parade, the aforementioned streets will be closed to thru traffic.

There will be no on street parking starting at 6:00 am on the day of the parade on the following streets. Spruce St. between North St. and Rt. 67, Rt. 67 between Spruce St. and Main St., all of Main St. and Broad St. Once the parade ends, on street parking will resume. Spruce St. is being utilized as a set up area for the fire apparatus and floats.

There will be temporary "No parking" signs erected along the parade route. Anyone in violation will be ticketed and their vehicle will be towed at owner's expense.

The Seymour Police Department is asking for everyone's cooperation on the morning of the event and please do not to park along the parade route.

This is a warning advising anyone who will be traveling thru Seymour during the parade to take an alternate route to avoid any delays.

Again, we ask for everyone's cooperation and patience.

We also ask that everyone traveling thru the area prior to the start of the parade and even at the end to use caution as there will be a lot of pedestrian traffic in the area.

Police post Memorial Day Parade route in Shelton

SHELTON - The Derby/Shelton Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for Monday, May 31 at 9 a.m.

The parade starts at the intersection of Howe Ave and Wharf St (the Exit 14 off ramp from Rt 8 S), goes right on to Kneen St, right on to Coram Ave, right on to White St, right on to Howe Ave, and a left on to the Derby/Shelton Bridge.

Starting at 7 a.m., there is no parking along the parade route.

The no parking area includes Howe Ave from Kneen St to White St, Coram Ave from Kneen St to White St, and White St.

The parade is rain or shine.

Seymour to hold motorcade Monday to mark Memorial Day

SEYMOUR - Although the COVID-19 pandemic forced cancellation of the town's Memorial Day Parade, officials, first responders, veterans, and local organizations will hold a procession Monday to mark the holiday.

Seymour to hold annual Memorial Day Parade Sunday

The annual Seymour Memorial Day Parade will be held Sunday. There will be a program beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the reviewing stand at Main and Bank Streets.

The parade will step off at 11 a.m. starting at French Memorial Park and will proceed onto New Haven Road (Rt. 67) and head west. 
The parade will proceed onto Main Street past the reviewing stand and through the downtown area and turn onto Broad Street crossing the bridge and disbanding at the Community Center. 
The local Sikh community will once again pass out ice cream bars to spectators along the parade route.

Seymour Memorial Day Parade to step off Sunday

SEYMOUR - The annual Seymour Remembers Memorial Day Parade will be held Sunday at 11:30 a.m. 

There will be a ceremony at 11 a.m. prior to the start of the parade at the reviewing stand at the corner of Bank Street and Main Street.

The parade will start at French Memorial Park and proceed west on New Haven Road (Route 67) to Main Street where it will turn left and head to the downtown area. 

It will proceed on Main Street to Broad Street, turn right across the bridge and disband at the Seymour Community Center. 
Members of the Sikh community will be passing out ice cream bars free of charge along the route. 
This year's Grand Marshal will be Ron Callanan. He served in the Army from 1966-72 including active duty from 1966-68 in Vietnam with the 1/9 Air Cavalry. 

Callanan was awarded the Air Medal as well as the Bronze Star. 

He also served as a member of the Memorial Day Parade Committee until recently stepping down.

Ansonia Police announce Sunday street closures for parade

ANSONIA - On Sunday, May 28 the City of Ansonia will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade. 
There will be no parking on the parade route from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. 
The parade route will be closed to all vehicular traffic from noon until 4 p.m.
This will affect the following streets;

Wakelee Avenue -- Franklin Street to Jackson Street

Jackson Street -- Wakelee Avenue to Franklin Street

Maple Street -- Franklin Street to Olson Drive

Main Street -- Maple Street to West Main Street.

Any cars parked along the parade route will be towed at the owner's expense.
