Klarides-Ditria wishes community a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I want to wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

This Thanksgiving, many families are making decisions on how to celebrate safely.

Health professionals have suggested that families limit their Thanksgiving holiday dinners to immediate family and limit travel.

Even during a pandemic, there is a renewed appreciation for the heroic people who are there for us. From our frontline healthcare workers, doctors, nurses, childcare providers, pharmacy workers, grocery store employees, teachers, bus-drivers, truck-drivers, electrical line-workers and others we rely on for our everyday needs.  From our first-responders, 911 operators to members of our nation's military who keep us safe and free, I give thanks.

The tradition of Thanksgiving – a celebration of good harvest – first took place in 1621, when English Pilgrims at Plymouth Plantation in Massachusetts shared a meal with their Native American neighbors.

While opening our homes this year is an uncertainty for many, please make sure to call and check on isolated, elderly or fragile neighbors. Tell them you're thinking about them. If you are able and feel comfortable doing so, offer to bring them a plate or a piece of pie.

We will get through this pandemic and, when we do, I hope we come out the other side more appreciative, more giving and more generous with our time and our blessings.

Finally, I give thanks for the honor of serving as your state representative and, as always, welcome the opportunity to work for you.

Please, never hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns relating to state government at Nicole.Klarides-Ditria@housegop.ct.gov or at (800) 842-1423.

Be well, stay safe, and spread only hope.

Sincerely,

State Rep. Nicole Klarides-Ditria, R-Seymour, represents the 105th District.

Ansonia mayor wishes all a Happy Thanksgiving, urges caution against COVID-19

🦃 MESSAGE FROM MAYOR CASSETTI 🦃

Good Evening Residents of the Great City of Ansonia!
This is Mayor David Cassetti, calling to wish you and your family a HAPPY THANKSGIVING, and to remind you about the very REAL DANGERS we are facing this holiday season.
For the sake of you and your loved ones, I urge residents to take extreme caution against the spread of COVID-19, especially when it comes to social gatherings of any kind this week.
Thanksgiving at my home will be much, much smaller this year. We are limiting attendance, while reaching out virtually to our extended family.
I know it may be frustrating – it certainly is for me -but I ask that you help protect our City by keeping attendance at your Thanksgiving dinner to those already in your household, and practicing social distancing and mask wearing in the presence of anyone who does not live with you. And of course, remember to keep washing your hands!
Also, please think twice about any out-of-state travel, especially if someone you live with is at increased risk for getting very sick from COVID-19, such as a senior citizen or those with known health issues. In many cases, a virtual gathering is simply the safest and most sensible alternative.
And if you absolutely must travel, I am counting on you to check all travel restrictions and follow all quarantine requirements and guidelines…including the 14-day quarantine or negative COVID test that will be required when you return to Ansonia from most states.
I don’t want to see you or your loved ones hurt by COVID-19. I don’t want to see this virus take another life in our community.
Please … let’s ensure a happy and healthy holiday by looking out for one another, and playing it SAFE. That might mean a smaller holiday than we are used to…but that just means we get to make up for it next year!
Thank you, and God bless you and your family.

Derby Historical Society continues 30th annual appeal

Gen. David Humphreys House in Ansonia

Dear Members and Friends,

The Derby Historical Society is still in its 30th-Annual Fundraising Appeal.

Our Society’s future depends on the Annual Fundraising Appeal.

This is a critical time for the Derby Historical Society to continue its mission of historical and cultural heritage enrichment.
This year marks two major milestones for the Derby Historical Society; the 40th-Anniversary of the opening of the General David Humphreys House Museum and the 40th-Anniversary of the award-winning hands-on program, "A Day in 1762."

This has been a very difficult year for everyone during the Covid-19 pandemic. The loss of revenue from events makes it critical that we reach out to you, our members, and our friends. We are in need of your financial support.

Please invest in the Society’s efforts to preserve our region’s history and culture by making a donation. Donations can be mailed, made on our website, or on Facebook with our new "Donate" button - please indicate that this is going towards our Annual Appeal.

Thank you in advance for your support, and we look forward to seeing you in the near future.
