Valley Soul concert on tap Tuesday at Church of the Good Shepherd in Seymour
Under the direction of recording artist and music industry veteran Angela Clemmons, a choir of volunteer singers will come together for Valley Soul at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
This can’t-miss gospel performance will feature choir members from faith-based organizations, health and human service agencies, foundations, and other grassroots organizations, serving as a metaphor for the “choir of caring” that collectively wraps its arms around the residents of the Valley.

From the 'Turnback Tuesday' archives: 1st Derby school superintendent
This week's "Turnback Tuesday" features J.W. Peck - the first superintendent of Derby Public Schools.
Mr. Peck is the gentleman on the right in the short, dark coat. He worked in the Derby school system for 33 years, 18 of which serving as superintendent. When he retired in 1912, he was named Superintendent-Emeritus at a salary of $1,000.
Peck was born on Feb.10,1852 in Trumbull and died Aug.16,1917 at the age of 65.
