Derby Public Library showcases square of Valley Heritage Quilt

Though the Valley Heritage Quilt has moved on to a new home, Derby Public Library is still showcasing each quilt square to highlight the beautiful and diverse heritage of the Valley.

This block is made from kimono fabrics and embellished with a Japanese type of embroidery called Sashiko.

The stitching is done in a variation of the Seven Treasures pattern.

Shelton Library System offers Origami Afternoons via Zoom

SHELTON - Kids of all ages can join Miss Jessica [at Huntington Branch Library] at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and learn how to fold different things out using the Japanese art of origami!

Each week we will try to make 1-3 different origami crafts, depending on time.

To participate, you should be prepared with origami paper (Miss Jessica is using 6x6 inch paper) OR you can make your own origami paper at home using printer paper that has been cut into a SQUARE.
