SHELTON - The Shelton Democrats will hold a recognition dinner honoring Frank Osak for his many years of service to the Shelton Democratic Town Committee and his thoughtful planning on the City of Shelton’s Planning & Zoning Commission and the Plan of Conservation and Development Committee.

Those wishing to attend may join us April 23 from 5-7 p.m. at Vazzy's Cucina, 706 Bridgeport Ave. 
Tickets are $50 per person, with a buffet and cash bar.

Frank Osak was the Chairman and Executive Vice President of Derby Cellular Products, member of the Shelton Economic Development Corporation, and has been affiliated with Griffin Hospital since 1966. 
He served as Griffin Hospital trustee for numerous years after serving as Second Vice President, First Vice President and Chairman of the Board. Since 1962, Osak has been involved with the Shelton Democrats, and with the planning and development of the City of Shelton as a Planning & Zoning Commissioner. 
Osak is currently an Alternate on the Planning & Zoning Commission and recently Chaired the review of the city's Plan of Conservation and Development.

The Shelton Democratic Town Committee is the official organization of the Democratic Party in the City of Shelton.

Seymour Dems seek candidates for November election

SEYMOUR - The Seymour Democratic Town Committee is seeking candidates to run for various town offices in November’s municipal election and will being choosing a slate for the July convention.

The party is looking for residents interested in running for the following boards:  

Board of Selectmen, Board of Education, Board of Finance, Board of Assessment Appeals, Board of Police Commissioners, Board of Library Directors and the Planning & Zoning Commission. 

The town committee will be supporting candidates that are invested in their community:  looking to make it a better place to live, work, raise a family and stay after retirement.  Interested candidates should be able to work well with others for the improvement of Seymour.  

The committee will nominate and endorse a slate of candidates in July.  

Any registered voter in Seymour may seek nomination.

Shelton Democrats to sponsor conversation at Plumb Memorial Library

SHELTON - Shelton Democrats are sponsoring a series of Community Conversations as part of their commitment to educate and engage the community on issues that matter most to residents on a local, state, and national level.

The first Community Conversation will be 'Building a Community of Respect: Why Words Still Matter,' presented in partnership with the Anti-Defamation League at 6:30 p.m. March 20 at Plumb Memorial Library, 65 Wooster St. 

This conversation will take an important look at the rise of hate speech, intolerance, and the role community organizations and citizens play in standing together against hate. 

This conversation will feature a panel of speakers including Steve Ginsburg, Director of the Anti-Defamation League;  Shawn Sequeira, Acting Chief of Shelton Police; Christopher Clouet, Superintendent of Shelton Public Schools; and the Rev. Lucille Fritz, Pastor, Huntington Congregational Church.

David Gioiello, Chairman of the Shelton Democrats said,  "Members of the public are invited to attend and participate in this free event, and we look forward to beginning the Community Conversation series."
