Derby High School softball team raises $3,000 for Hewitt Center for Breast Wellness

DERBY -The Derby High School softball team recently presented Griffin Health Assistant Vice President of Diagnostic Services Christine Cooper and Griffin Hospital President/ CEO Patrick Charmel with a $3,000 donation to The Hewitt Center for Breast Wellness at Griffin Hospital.

The funds were raised at Derby High School’s 10th Annual Pink Softball Game held in May against Oxford High School. 

Organized by long-time Griffin Hospital employee and Derby High School Softball Coach Joe DiMartino, the fundraiser is held in honor of his wife, Lori, a breast cancer survivor.

Overall, the annual event has raised a total of more than $30,000 to help breast cancer patients in the greater Valley community.
