Ansonia to salute veterans at parade Sunday

'Star Spangled' event planned

ANSONIA - The city will host the annual Memorial Day Parade Sunday. Residents are encouraged to gather along the parade route and on Main Street to join Ansonia’s salute to our country’s courageous veterans.

“The Memorial Day Parade is an Ansonia tradition,” said Mayor David S. Cassetti. “It’s a wonderful opportunity gather with family and friends to recognize the sacrifice made by so many brave men and women in defense of our country.”

The parade will start at 2 p.m. at the Nolan Field Sports Complex on Wakelee Avenue. The parade route will be as follows: south on Wakelee Avenue, East on Jackson Street, south on Maple Street, over the Maple Street Bridge and then south on Main Street ending at the Big Y supermarket at the corner of Main and West Main Streets.

Officers will be putting out No Parking reminders on vehicles parked along the parade route.
Please remove vehicles from the parade route by 11 a.m. Sunday. Any vehicles not removed by 11 a.m. will be towed from the parade route.

Roadways near the area of the parade route will be blocked off by 1 p.m. to allow time to make the parade route safe from vehicular traffic. The parade will end at approximately 4 p.m. and all roadways will be reopened.

This is a press release from the mayor's office.
