Ansonia Library to host talk July 2 on American Presidency
As our nation prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, join us for a look at one of America’s most important institutions: the Presidency.
Professor Hamish Lutris will explore how the office of the President was created, how it has evolved over more than two centuries, and the challenges faced by those who have held the nation's highest office.
Whether you're a history buff, a current events enthusiast, or simply curious about how the presidency works, this program offers a fascinating perspective as we kick off America’s 250th celebration.

Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton to offer 2 yoga sessions in July

Find foundational skills and knowledge in this Morning Motion class.
This session will be introductions, basic concepts, and tips and tricks for a daily morning movement practice. This will include stretching, basic yoga poses, breathwork, and energy flow techniques that wake up the body at the start of your day. This class is perfect beginners.

Instructor bio: Shannon has been practicing yoga for over five years. Since working at a yoga studio and wellness center in 2021, she knew she wanted to help others physically, mentally, and spiritually. Shannon is Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, and Reiki Il certified, and is currently pursuing her Reiki Masters certification.
Her future prospects include opening a wellness practice of her own. In her free time, Shannon enjoys reading, writing, painting, and being in nature as much as possible.

Shelton PD announces 2-city fireworks display July 2 at Veterans Memorial Park
The Shelton-Derby Independence Day Fireworks return Thursday, July 2 at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park with fireworks launching around 9:15 p.m.
This year’s celebration continues the tradition shared between Shelton and Derby as we come together ahead of America 250.
The Shelton Police Department will be on site throughout the evening to support the event and help ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration for all residents and visitors.
