Fall fest to feature family fun at Kriz Farm in Bethany



BETHANY - Join us Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a day of fun and festivities on our beautiful farm. 
The farm is at 13 Bear Hill Road.
This year, we're celebrating the season with a delightful array of activities and vendors that are sure to create lasting memories for the whole family.
Explore our vibrant market featuring around thirty unique craft vendors, showcasing everything from handmade goods to local treasures. Savor the flavors of the season with delicious offerings from Vittles, our southern comfort food truck, or indulge in sweet treats and warm beverages from Simply Mixx, serving up hot chocolate, cider, and lemonade. Don't forget to stop by our ice cream stand to cool off with a selection of fall-inspired seasonal flavors!
Get into the fall spirit by picking out the perfect pumpkin or adding a splash of color to your garden with our beautiful mums for sale. 
For the little ones, we have a petting zoo and pony rides that are sure to bring smiles all around. Don't miss the chance to enjoy whimsical face painting and the nostalgic charm of a horse-drawn wagon ride.

'Turnback Tuesday' features Derby High School Class of 1957


Turnback Tuesday visits Derby High School Class of 1957, which boasted a graduating number of 78 students.
This is an image of a class reunion in 1974. Barbara Farley “Guluzzy” is standing on the left, second one in.
This image was a donation from the Farley-Guluzzy family. Any assistance about who is in this image would be greatly appreciated.
Some interesting tidbits from 1957: Gasoline was 28 cents a gallon, bread was 19 cents a loaf, a postage stamp was 3 cents, a 1 pound package of hotdogs was 49 cents, minimum wage was $1, and the average median household income was $5,000 a year.

Free education event slated at The Griffin Center for Healthy Living in Oxford


OXFORD - The Griffin Center for Healthy Living Teaching Kitchen presents Building a Healthy Gut Microbiome Featuring Fermented Foods Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. at The Griffin Center for Healthy Living at Quarry Walk, 300 Oxford Road.

Join us for a free health education event that explores the basis of the body’s gut microbiome and how the standard American diet impacts functioning and inflammation. 

Former executive director of Massaro Farm and sustainable nutrition expert Caty Poole will discuss small changes that can improve the overall health of the intestinal tract, including the incorporation of fermented foods to balance the digestive system.

CWV St. Michael's Post 1562 in Derby to hold bingo fundraiser


DERBY - Doors open at 6 p.m. Wednesday at CWV St. Michael's Post 1562 for an evening of fun bingo. 
The post is at 112 Derby Ave.
Themed baskets of all kinds and gift card prizes too!
