Save the date: Seymour Pink Day Oct. 15 this year

Seymour Pink Day will be on Wednesday, Oct. 15 this year.
Join us for a day of community, hope, and unwavering support as we celebrate Seymour Pink Day! This is our community's special day to go all-in for the fight against breast cancer.

Whether you're a local business decorating your storefront, a student wearing your official Seymour Pink Day T-shirt, or a family covering your home with pink ribbons, your participation sends a powerful message of solidarity.
It's a day when our entire community unites to honor survivors, remember those we've lost, and stand strong with those currently fighting.

Seymour Pink Day slated to celebrate, spread breast cancer awareness

What is Seymour Pink Day?

It's an opportunity to SEE MORE PINK and help spread awareness of breast cancer, honor our survivors, and remember the taken.

It's an opportunity for the community to come together in the fight against breast cancer. It's an opportunity to remind our loved ones to get their mammograms and necessary breast cancer screenings.

On Oct. 19, Seymour Pink Day, we invite you to shop at New Morning Market in Woodbury - we'll be there from 10:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. For everyone who wears pink into the store, we'll earn $1 donation!
Then join us at Hot Tamale in Seymour from 3 p.m. onward for our Seymour Pink Day celebration. Door prizes, music, and fun will ensue.

Of course, so many businesses in our area will be celebrating too, and many are celebrating with specials all month long. We are so grateful!

However you plan to celebrate, we can't wait to see it! Be sure to share your photos on social media with #seymourpinkday

Let's make this Seymour Pink Day one of our biggest yet!

Oxford teacher entertains at Seymour Pink party

Bobby Wheeler entertains Wednesday at the Seymour Pink Day celebration at Hot Tamale Mexican Grill and Bar in Seymour.

My apologies go out to singer Bobby Wheeler of Oxford, who did a great job performing for Seymour Pink board members and supporters at the party.
I inadvertently left him out of my coverage of the event, which you can read here and here.

As an aside, Wheeler's day job is teaching fifth grade at Oxford Center School! It was nice meeting him.

I thank Seymour Pink volunteer Peggy Carvalho for providing the photo.

Seymour Pink board, supporters celebrate special day

SEYMOUR - Wednesday was the sixth annual Seymour Pink Day and residents and friends celebrated in many pink-themed ways.
Resident Mary Deming founded Seymour Pink, Inc., a community's fight against breast cancer, in memory of her mother who died at age 55 from the disease.

The day culminated with a party at Hot Tamale Mexican Grill and Bar at Seybridge Plaza attended by board members, breast cancer survivors, and supporters.

The nonprofit will receive 20 percent of the restaurant's sales from Wednesday.

This beautiful quilt created out of team T-shirts from last year's Pounding the Pavement for Pink 5K run/walk was a raffle prize at the party.
My daughter and I attended the event, and as a breast cancer survivor I felt the warmth and caring of board members and other volunteers.

Thank you all for everything you do to make this journey easier! The support means a lot.

Please click here to read my story in the Valley Independent Sentinel.

The restaurant's tables were decorated with pink roses and ribbons. So pretty!
