Recuperation journey: Waiting for peanuts

I have four or five blue jays that screech at me every day until I give them their peanuts. Here is one of them on this dreary afternoon.

They wait and watch until I throw some outside.

Recuperation journey: Squirrelly

When one spends a lot of time at home it's likely one will befriend a squirrel or two.

Stuart just has to look at me and he gets a peanut. Spoiled!

Recuperation journey: Peanut fun

I caught you!

Occasionally - like today - I put peanuts in this shrub for the birds to take.

That's because I noticed a while ago they were using it as a hiding place for peanuts our neighbor had put out for them. Now of course they hang around waiting for a treat or two.

Recuperation journey: A car for Christmas?

Call me old-fashioned, but it would never happen!

Picture this scene: A woman looks out on Christmas morning at a perfect winter landscape when what does she see but a new car (insert make and model here) sitting in the driveway with a giant red bow on top.

Behind her stands her smiling husband who hands her a box containing a key. She breaks into a big smile, gives him a hug, and rushes out the door.

Nope!

Even if we could afford to buy each other a car for Christmas I know Ralph and I would do no such thing.

Our Christmas presents run along the lines of books, socks, sweaters, and such.

That's the way we've always celebrated. Outrageous gifts are not what we're about.

And there's always the one and only Linus Van Pelt who reminds us of the real reason for the season:

Wishing all my blog visitors a peaceful and joyous Yuletide season.
