Seymour Congregational Church to hold Field of Flags blessing ceremony

SEYMOUR - Join us for a meaningful and moving ceremony as we honor those who have served.

As part of our Field of Flags tradition, we will gather for a special blessing and plaque dedication ceremony, lifting up the names and stories of veterans from our community.

 Honor a Loved One
Plaques may be purchased for $5 through the church office in honor of someone who served. During the ceremony, plaques will be dedicated and names will be read aloud.

We are honored to be joined by Emil Senger Post 10, who will help lead this time of remembrance and gratitude.

SEYMOUR - Tag sale spaces are available downtown for vendors, dealers, direct sales, etc., from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. May 12. Rain date is May 19. 

Each space is 10x10. 
The cost is $15 and benefits the American Legion.

American Legion, VFW Posts to host concert at Seymour Middle School

State expected to fund elevator installation for Legion Post 10 in Seymour

SEYMOUR - State Rep. Theresa Conroy, D-Seymour, Beacon Falls, Derby, today announced the imminent approval of state funding for the Emil Senger American Legion Post 10.

The state Bond Commission is expected to approve $98,170 for the installation of an elevator lift to provide handicapped access to the second floor of the building.

“This is great news for area veterans and visitors to the American Legion in Seymour,” Conroy said.

The state Bond Commission will meet at 10:30 a.m. Friday in room 1-E of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

Seymour Legion Post to hold memorial service Wednesday in Beacon Falls

BEACON FALLS - Members of Emil Senger Post 10, American Legion of Seymour will hold a Saga of the Four Chaplains memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Church, 25 Maple Ave.

The service will honor these four heroic men of God who gave their lives on the USAT Dorchester on Feb. 3, 1943. Without regard for themselves they all gave away their life jackets to save others on deck that frigid night. 

Light refreshments will be served afterward in the church hall.
