Church in Seymour to host 'Touch-A-Truck' today

SEYMOUR - The seventh annual Touch-A-Truck & Kid’s Summer Festival event will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today.

This year’s event will feature a series of kids summer festival activities, including tractor rides, face painting, kids games and giveaways, and a children’s book sale, along with Great Hill’s famous home bake sale.

Snacks and beverages will be available for sale during the event.

Trucks/vehicles will be on display to view and/or be climbed on by children and young-at-heart adults.

One of the vehicle highlights will be the return of the “spray truck” which will provide youngsters with an opportunity to use a high powered spray truck to “shoot and spray” water at targeted balloons.

All sorts of vehicles and trucks will be exhibited and youngsters will have an opportunity to sit in, walk in, and converse with the vehicle operators, including a modern firetruck, an antique postal van, school bus, GBTA bus, police vehicle, large tow truck, a military vehicle and many more.

Returning this year is the Griffin Hospital mobile health resource van, which this year features a child car-seat safety demonstration and give-away materials.

Admission to the Touch-A-Truck area has been maintained at $3 per youngster in an effort to attract as many youngsters as possible. Accompanying adults are admitted free of charge.
