Gardening program planned at Kellogg Center in Derby



DERBY - Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection invites you to plan your herb and tea garden with the help of Jim Calkins, Executive Chef/Owner of Seasonal Catering at 6:30 pm May 12 at the Kellogg Environmental Center, 500 Hawthorne Ave.

Calkins is an experienced chef working with local flavors and foods to create seasonal offerings and will share his knowledge of flavor combinations and help you plan your herb and plant selections this spring to give you great flavor throughout summer and fall.

This is the first of a two-part series which will include a follow up this fall on harvesting and drying.

Seasonal Catering on Elizabeth Street is a gluten free, nut free café offering vegetarian and vegan selections. It is a proud partner with local Connecticut farms and businesses to source its products.

The café also works to utilize local grown products in their catering and café menu as well as offering them for sale through their gift store.

Please call for details or to register. This event is free, but donations are accepted. Light refreshments will be provided.
