SEYMOUR - The Seymour Lions Club will hold several car shows at Tri-Town Plaza, 814 Derby Ave. this summer.
The first one is at 5:30 p.m. today, Thursday.

This show will be lots for fun for the whole family. Owners of all hot rods, street rods, rat rods, classic, custom, trucks, motorcycles and antiques are invited.

As local car aficionados showcase their vintage, classic, and custom cars, trucks and motorcycles and all the work they have done on them, there are opportunities to network and uncover new ideas for local car enthusiasts.

Trophies will be awarded for the first, second, and third place car/truck winners and a motorcycle trophy will be awarded.

The sponsors pick the winners! Music raffles, socializing makes for a fun night!

Recuperation journey: July 4th sunset seen in Brooklyn

Our son Cameron knows how much I love to take photos of sunsets so I was pleasantly surprised this morning to find this photo in my email.
He lives in Brooklyn and took this from a rooftop while he and his friends were waiting for the fireworks to begin. I had to share!

Recuperation journey: A different time ~ Memory from 1938

I was going through a box of my mother's things Saturday and just happened to find a book with an Independence Day theme.

Today is the perfect day to share my discovery.

My mother was given this book from the town's school district when she graduated from eighth grade on June 17,1938.

In the back are pages titled "Names of My Teachers,"Names of My Classmates," and "My School Chums."
Every person who signed the book used cursive. Sadly that wouldn't happen today, 80 years later.

What a beautiful graduation gift for the students!
