DERBY - Derby Public Library invites young adults ages 12 to 17 to a virtual Teen Advisory Board meeting at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 4.

Attendees are encouraged to voice their ideas for improving and expanding young adult library services and teen programming. 

Focus will include participant input that contributes to the library fulfilling its mission of quality-of-life enhancements in: knowledge; entertainment; and citizenship. 

Zoom access link will be provided via email the day prior to meeting date.

Derby Public Library to hold teen game night via Zoom

DERBY - Derby Public Library invites all tweens and teens ages 10 to 17 to Virtual Teen Game Night from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 3 and 10.

Participants will have library-provided materials to compete in the classic games of skill and chance, “YA”TZEE & FARKLE. 

Zoom access link will be provided via email the day prior to game date.

Virtual Teen Maker Space slated at Derby Public Library

DERBY - Derby Public Library invites all young adults ages 12 to 17 to a virtual Teen Maker Space at 3 p.m. July 9.

The Whitney Water Center’s science educator Lisa DeFrancesco will explain and demonstrate the concept of Surface Tension.

Make-Ahead Breakfasts

On July 23 from 3-4 p.m., the Library invites all young adults ages 12 to 17 to a virtual Teen Maker Space where attendees will learn about the convenience and time saving aspects of Make-Ahead Breakfasts. 

This event will address the challenges to preparing breakfasts on the go, look at food preparation to save time, and discover more ideas for morning meals. 

Certified dietitian Siddhi Sheth will discuss tips for making balanced breakfasts, as well as demonstrate a few items for members to prepare on their own.

Derby Public Library offers Teen Summer Club

DERBY - The Derby Public Library invites young adults ages 12 to 17 to the 2018 Teen Summer Club. 

The theme is “Libraries Rock!” encouraging teens to engage in Maker Space creative outlets Thursdays from 3-4:30 p.m., and Game Night activities Wednesdays from 6-7:30 p.m. 

Registration continues through July 13. 

Teen club members will earn credit for each event attended. 

Participation at two club events and completion of a book review will earn members a $20 gift card from the Connecticut Sports Center. 

A grand prize winner will be drawn at the club’s finale, a Pizza Party Aug. 9.
