Derby Elks Lodge hosting country line dancing on Green

DERBY - The Derby Elks Lodge is hosting Country Line Dancing from 6:30-10 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month from June to October on the Derby Green. 

In the event of rain, the dancing will be held on the second Saturday. 

This event is free and open to the public.

Remaining dates are:

Aug. 5, rain date is Aug. 12

Sept. 2, rain date is Sept. 9

Oct. 7, rain date is Oct. 14

Derby Elks' tag sale to benefit Hewitt Center for Breast Wellness at Griffin Hospital

DERBY - Derby Elks Lodge #571, 73 Elizabeth St., will sponsor a tag sale from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, rain or shine.

All profits will benefit The Hewitt Center for Breast Wellness at Griffin Hospital, 350 Seymour Ave.

Clinic at Griffin Hospital in Derby trains parents, installs car seats

Some of the child car seats distributed to parents and grandparents Wednesday during a car seat safety clinic run by Griffin Hospital's Valley Parish Nurses.

Griffin Hospital in Derby to host child car seat training Wednesday

DERBY - Safe Kids Greater Naugatuck Valley, Griffin Hospital, and the Derby Elks are teaming up to offer free training on child car seats and a seat giveaway from 1-7 p.m. Wednesday at Griffin Hospital’s Community Outreach parking lot, 4 Mountain St.

The training will help adults that take care of children learn about safety requirements for children in various car seats. 

At the end of the training, participants will receive a free seat appropriate to their child’s needs and instruction on proper use. 

There are 40 appointments scheduled for this event.
